Hey, why don't you invite -GREG 72, he lives up your way, doesn't he?
Well now you have some motivation.

He's already been invited and as long as he gets his shizzle together, he'll be going to.

I wish!
I am still in the gathering parts stage. Picked up another tub this summer, but have alot of cutting, welding, etc. to do. Trying to help my boy get his Corvette done first, then it's the blazers turn.

It's not good for the Jimmy, HoHo for the next week. Families coming in, wifey says no playing with the truck.
Did get my new tow hooks installed, but they have to come off again to put under the tree, I have to act surprised. I hate to take them off cause they look so good, I waited a month for these things. Oh well...

It's only two weeks.... I'll show you pics. of my tow hooks if you want. Thanks Iron Horse.
Much prudier than rusty old metal, can't decide if I should paint them or not, kinda like the black and overspray light green metallic.

Maybe I can sneak in an hour or two.... Problem is, my wife took my extension cord for the lights on the back porch. Priorities go figure...

Re: PO has me PO'd

Welcome back, hope everyone had an enjoyable Holiday Season and got lots of truck parts!!!

Here's my current progress pics. not alot done, but started working nights. The kick panel is giving me problems, as I have to add a 1/2" at the flange for the wetherstripping, panel is to short, but will be covered up anyway.

Found another big hole- 'B' post lower, more work in progress. OK here goes

Waiting on my door hinges so I can check alignment before I tear into 'B' post to much....
Released my come a long on the 'A' post so all the weight is back where it belongs, also have to run a string along the lower body line and mark my 'A' post. J.

Re: PO has me PO'd

I had more problems in the "B" Pillar area than any other place on the truck, there are a lot of pieces to fit together in this area that are a PITA.

It's like overhauling an engine through the tailpipe.

Did you keep any of your patterns? I still have your pics.

Yeah, I have agree. I was looking at it last night, seems like the 'B' pillar patch panel goes behind the back part of it. So I guess I'll have to build it backwards out!! I cut the first layer off, but it is still attached to the step up cross pc. I want to hang my door first to check it out, my measurements check out, but one never knows....

Thanks for looking, any mistakes or advice just post it up. Ones never to old to learn. J.

Nothing at add other than 'I feel your pain'.

I'm sure you already know about weldable primer?

Yes on the primer, but it never hurts to mention it, someone mite not. It's a steep learning curve.

Kurt, could you post up some pics of your lower 'B' post area, mine is so rotted away I don't have much to go by. J.
Never mind on the pics, I just saw they were taken in 2003
BTW, nice work. Wish I was that far along. Still shotting for May

Re: PO has me PO'd

Here's my current progress on th 'B' post repair, also found some ugly rust repair from the PO. I think this is the last pos repair from him on the truck, anyway I haven't seen any of his handywork elsewhere.

Kinda strait forward, just made up a patch for step up, it does have a very slight ( 1/8"- 3/16" ) offset. Makes the 'B' post patch panel line up better if you put it in, just bent it in my vise, nothing fancy. The offset is located where the vertical white dots are. Then its just a matter of cut and fit the patch panel. The patch panel itself fits pretty well, but I had to slot and rebend the area where it meets the floorboard. Seems like the 1/2 round shape of the pc. doesn't want to match up. So you have to cut and bend to fit, I just used channel lock pliers. This was the only area that had to be worked on from the patch panel. Nice work Goodmark!!

I removed my seatbelt hold down plate, I want to relocate to the floor, just like the drivers side. Also there is a small bracket at the base of the step up and floorboard that I have to fab. up, doesn't look difficult tho.

Actually, I should mention that you have to work outward back, since the patch panel is located behind the lower front bedside support, hard to explain, but you will see once you get into this area.

OK so here are the pics.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Are you using the screws to hold in place til welding is complete and then remove and fill weld, or is there some other Evil purpose?

I went that route putting rockers in the 71 the first time I did it and it helped a lot. I just welded screw and all in and then finish ground it.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Yes, I plan to remove them as I weld in the panels, just helps with alignment and ease of removal as I modify and reinstall the pc. They will just turn into a bunch of spot welds, if I ever get to that point....
