LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

LFD's
Trazer closed cab

Yes that is right we will be putting on a truck cab to this 2WD blazer. I know it is not everyones cup of tea but just wait untill it is ready to leave the shop then give your opnion. It will be a few weeks before I realy get started on this but it is at the shop and ready to go once I finish up a few loose ends. We will be doing the regular rust replacement and a full passenger side quarter and some drivers side patches at the rear of the quarter. Then the fire wall will be getting a standard shave, full frame doors and a truck cab graft.

So, is the bed going to be attached to the back of the cab, like an avalanche? Regular cab size, or are you going to extend it a bit? Didn't they something like this in Mexico or south america?

It is going to be a while unless I end up taking this body off the frame for some reason. I need to test fit a body to the dolly before I will sell and plans and right now my Blazer is tward the bottom of the list with my son on th eway any time now. I still need to get his room finished and get the main power to the house changed over so we can get A/C installed before it gets to hot for Momma.

It is going to be a short uni-body pick up! I will be tacking a very nice cab and steeling the roof, whindshield section, back of the cab and the doors and grafting it onto this Blazer tub.

You got it!

The sad part is right now my 2WD blazer is drivable but just sits waiting to get as far along as this one is right now

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

Here's a similar "Trazer" for you guys that are having a hard time figuring out what he is doing.

Edit - I believe that one has the top chopped a little though.

Wouldn't shortening a 2wd truck frame and grafting the bedsides to the cab produce the same effect/look?

Yes but as we al know blazers have alot of built in rigity between the bed and the cab. If you just shorten a truck frame and weld the body together their is a good chance of broblems down the road at that joint. By using a blazer tub for the foundation you start off with a tied together system that will not give you any problems down the road if done right. I know you can do it right with a truck set up but you will spend twice as much time and effort for not as good of a result in my opinion.

Ya know, we're becoming acustom to nice 3D renderings before a project starts these days. When are we going to see your Carter Hickman rendering?

I will also be watching. You do some great work. My dads friend that I grew up around has done this to several 4wd blazers in SLC but I have not seen a 2wd one. I atached a few pics of the 4wd. I will be watching your build.

Re: LFD's Project Traizer 2WD closed cab.

A friend of mine who now lives in Littelton, Colorado did this to a 2wd blazer in the late '80's... it never did get totally finnished. He still owns it. If any of you Denver area guys are ever in the area, you should look him up. He would love to show it to you, it might just get him fired up enough to finish it... He owns the FastFrame in Littleton(?) the one near Quebec and C470...
Its a very neat conversion, you end up with a little shelf behind the seats that is the bed floor, but because of the pickup cab graphing, it's inside the cab... I don't recommend this as I'm smarter now... but, it works perfectly for holding you 18 pack of beer...
