M.A.D. 66 build

Hey guys, I was going to start this thread earlier but, I didn't want to start until I had my parts on hand. Well today the parts fairy dropped off a rather large shipment(the UPS guys was a little grouchy), 15 boxes from CPP.

Got started Sunday tearing out the right front suspension.

Thanks for the welcome!

I got the 66 a couple of months ago to rebuild with my son. It's the kind of project I always wanted to do with my dad when I was young. I intend for it to be a very good driver. My main concern is for it to handle and stop, we'll get to the looks afterwhile. It came with a freshly rebuilt 350 4 bolt main and a th350 already installed and running well. The truck is very rust free(which is a miracle here on the coast). I got pretty much everything you could get for the suspension from CPP. I think the only thing I have not got yet is the tubular truck arms and the crossmember. I should be able to get those next month on the 10th. We're doing a front and rear disc conversion with power brake booster and new master cylinder. The suspension is getting 2 1/2" drop spindles and 2" springs in front and 4" springs in the rear with a c-notch kit. Full power steering conversion. I think this is going to keep us busy for at least a couple of months. We'll play it by ear from there. Who knows where this rollercoaster is going to end up.

Will do! I was actually hoping to have her ready to drive in time to go the the Lone Star Roundup...I know she's too old to enter but it would be a nice trip.

Nice stack of parts! You might want to put some paint on those spindles.... That surface rust is going to turn into a monster!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Thanks and hi back, comming from you that's quite a compliment! Yeah he loves the old cars(takes after his dad). He's super stoked about gettin her all put back together and he's a great helper. He's learning what all the parts are and what they do, not to mention what all the different tools are. The last truck I put together he was too little to remember. Here's a pic of my last build(I know it's not Chevy, but It was a blast to build and drive)a 91 cummins diesel.

Chassis or caliper paints come in various colors @ your local auto parts places. Any manufacturer w/a cast grey color (engine paint etc) or even bead blasting & spraying them w/some clear works.

Thanks Scoti! I've got to go pick up the new inner and outer tie rod ends today so I'll pick some up while I'm at it.

Is that CPP rear kit that uses the caddy calipers? If so makesure to share how it works out.

That is going to one nice ride there when you're done.
