Anyone have a receiver hitch under a factory non-step bumper???

I don't know what the technical name is for the bumber but I'm referring to the style that looks very similar to the front bumper and doesn't really have much of a step on it. I currently have a step bumper (don't know if its factory or not) and want to take it off and put the factory style chrome on. I also would like some sort of reciever hitch that would fit nicely under the bumper. Anyone have a setup like this? I also have a blazer gas tank installed if that makes any difference. Thanks!

I do on my '72 'burb. I don't have any pictures though...

Mine has a Suburban tank (and an aftermarket 20 gal tank under there too), it all clears fine.

I don't know how to get pictures fast... Maybe I can borrow someone's digital camera.

What brand of hitch do you have? I was on Reese's sight and #R37087 says its for 1963-1972 Chevrolet/GMC Pickup Full Size C/K Series with 8 FT. Bed and there is a seperate model for deep drop bumper so I assume this one is designed to just clear factory style bumpers.

I have one, it fits fine under the chrome bumper. It is a Valley Industries brand. I don't think it is a deep drop type.

That looks cool, and would be nice on a 2 wd truck. But on my truck with it's height, I need a 6" drop hitch as it is for my trailer to set level. Raising the receiver another 5 or 6 inches would not be practical for me.

I'll have to look when I get home. Drove the Metro today.

I have the Blazer tank and chrome bumper. I just called a local RV dealer and got the receiver hitch from him. It was a little over $100.00. I don't think it took an hour to put it on.

I have the Early Classic hitch hidden behind my licese plate and am very happy with it. Nice clean look when not in use and very functional hauling my enclosed 16' trailer when in use. I mounted the trailer plug up underneath also so there is no sign of it when it's not being used.

Take a look at LMC or Brothers, I believe they both have hidden receivers in their catalogs or on line. The ball hitch insert is available in all kinds of drops lenghts, from straight out to down so low it almost scraps the ....ahhem!... asphalt.

Just ask for the standard hitch for the truck, it will work fine with the Blazer tank.
