6 lug to 5 lug wheel conversion? Spring-Houston Texas

Do any of you have advice on where to get 6 lug axles remachined to accept 5 lug wheels? Any idea on costs? N. Houston/Woodlands/Conroe recommendations would be terrific! (67 C-10)

For the price of machining or buying new 5 lug axles, why not swap in a 5 lug rear end?

Yes, that is an option. We are considering that, too. I think new axles/drums (w/out differential or tubes) would run around $400-$450. We are hoping that pressing out the studs, remachining, and new studs might be considerably less than that, if we can find someone local that has a good reputation doing such mods. Thanks.

CPP sells axles that are five lug that are the same length as a 6 lug axle for about 300 a pair, but finding a 5 lug axle might be cheaper, I just picked one up for $100

Re: 6 lug to 5 lug wheel conversion? Spring-Houston Texas

What are the differences between the 6 lug and 5? Is there a advantage over one from the other?
Sorry to be clueless on this but it's something I've been wondering about for a while.
Thanks,
Joe

Most guys who prefer 5-lug do it for the wheel selection. That, and it's generally cheaper to convert to 5-lug front discs.
