steering column

i recently purchased a van tilt column already in the truck problem being he ground off the shifter lever housing changing it into a manual column.i want to change it back to a automatic column can i use the shifter housing of a non tilt column or does it have to be a off a tilt column any info will help thanx

Has to be off a tilt.
