1972 rear end

I have found a 72 5 lug rear for my 68 stepside so I can have 5 lug axles instead of the 6 lugs. Will this 72 rear bolt into the old location without modification?

Thanks-Mika

If they are both coil springs or both leaf springs they should. I know the '71 rear axle is 1 1/2 inches wider overall than the '68 but the spring/axle brackets should be the same.

Yes. I bolted a 72 rear end under my 68.
