Yeah i see what your saying. The custom touches are minimal. tailights, the bed has shaved stake pockets(not really custom i know) it has a no letter tailgate. other than that thats it.
it is going to have the fender badges and trim on fenders and hood and c-h-e-v-r-o-l-e-t on the hood.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I decided to go ahead and do the door screw so I can get all the door parts back in it. I don't like having glass laying around..As you can see i cut out what i wanted to use and used the remaining piece to mark where to cut. cut it out, tacked it in, welded the rest in slowly allowing it to cool after a few spots with the welder, ground it down the same way. I'll skim it and block it and prime it. I still have to clean the inside of the door. It has some surface rust that needs knocked off. Now I have my 72 door. Almost forgot, I will drill out the holes for the door panel clips also

Looking good mang. Little things like that most people wouldn't notice, but they'd drive you nuts

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

ha. your right. The door was actually given to me by a friend for cutting a tree up for him. It is in good shape and 72 doors (good ones) are hard to come by. So I fixed the drivers side and used this one. thanks.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Back to the grind. I got the doorskin weld ground down and almost all of the lip pinched down, and welded. Also ground down some small spots on the pass. door. Its ready for a skim of putty. The wife is planning a yard sale next weekend so I won't get much done this week.

I tried to get up there for that job, but got stuck doing another one closer to home. I am still gonna try and get up there soon. Also, gonna buy a welder in the next few days. Do you have any suggestions? There's a Hobart at Tractor Supply for about $300.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Hobart, I hear is a good one. i have a friend with one and he likes it. would definitely get one with the gas kit(regulator etc.)for argon mix. Mine is the 150 dual mig from Harbor freight. Its a cheapo but it gets it done.If I get to come to Woodys I'll bring the fender and you can play with your welder on it.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I don't mind getting a cheapo welder if it will do the job. I just want to be able to buy replacement parts if something breaks on it. I'll check Harbor Freight tonight.

Get to work on that truck, and I'll see you at Woody's if you come.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

If you buy a cheapo from anywhere I would recommend getting the extended warranty. I think I got a two yr for mine. I can't work on it right now. We have recently bought living room furniture and the old furn. is going in the basement temporarily. When I get rid of it I'll get something done.
