Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Cleaned up some surface rust around the windshield and primed it. painted the top of pass. door and around the vent window area so I can put that all back together. I have decided to go with a white top. I will want to put the paint devider molding on also. anybody ever put those studs on that hold the clips?

I know you're supposed to be able to do it with a stud gun. I also heard it was a pain Hope you get to feeling better!!!

Hey Chuck. Gonna be in Clarksville tomorrow working. I'll try to give you a shout while I am there.

I like white tops. Good choice.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

took baby steps today. didn't get a whole lot done. Painted and installed the jack hold down bracket and spring, sanded and painted the jack, jack handle, and lug wrench. Installed the pass. door vent window, regulator, and latch. Put on the new door handles and locks. Also put the glovebox back in and the glovebox door on.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I forgot to mention that I piked up a wheel that a member sold me. Its an Ansen slotted wheel. 15 x 7. for the front. I think I may go 17 x 8 on the rear. I also put on my exhaust manifolds.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Sandblasted some parts and painted them. Had to stop because the sand was getting old and wasn't cutting well. It was getting too fine. Also had to seal up my cabinet some. I'll post pics later. i've got to get some sand also.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I got a couple more things blasted. One hood hinge and a 1968 plate. I got glass bead blast and it is too fine. I think its finer than the sand that I had. It makes whatever your blasting look good but it takes longer to do it. I only have a hood hinge left so I'll just use it. I put my drier on the blasting cabinet and sealed up the little holes in the cabinet. Attached my shop vac to it and it works a lot better this way.

I forgot to add that I'm not from Oklahoma, I bought this plate because it has my initials and almost my birthdate Chuck Rife 8/31. The guy had 833,834 but no 831 but I got this one anyway

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I bought some reverse lights that are led. I still dont know where I'm going to mount them just yet. Since I am going to use this a my DD I wanted something to let people know I waas backing up. I know a lot of people just leave them off. I also painted the inside of the drivers fender.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

What type of paint and gun are you using? Curious as I see you're incrementally painting things as it goes back together, so I figured it must be easy to mix up and clean up when you're done.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

I am using rustoleum rattle can. light coats. I am not going to paint this truck right now. The truck will be stripped of all this when I do the truck. I am getting it to where I can decide for sure on color scheme. (right now) the plan is to paint it the factory blue with white top and white on the grill. I do have a gun but its in storage and has been since 02 so I may have to get one later . Can't recall the brand.

Re: Thelonerifes 72 stepper

Thanks Mike,

This truck is not a big priority right now because I have a junior in high school and college is just around the corner. If i still have it after that is taken care of then i will try to do a full paint job on it. i just wanted to get all the rust repaired on it so it didn't get worse and then it wouldn't be worth doing it.
