What are the Best Fitting Headers for a 67-72 Chev!

What has everyone been using for headers for a 350. Seem to have some clearance problems with my Hooker headers. Pics would be helpfull if you can also provide them and part numbers you guys are using.

Re: What are the Best Fitting Headers for a 67-72 Chev!

I just installed a set of Summit full length headers (Part #SUM-G9006) on the 327 on my 68. Closest thing to a clearance issue I'm having is the clutch linkage rubbing a little on the driver side header.

I have Headman Torque Steps and they fit fine. I've also had Headman Elites which fit fine. I've never had any headers that didn't fit. I have only had issues with clutch linkage clearance with some headers. On my automatic trucks everything just bolted on.

The headman elite fit great...just a little tight getting the driver side in place. I disconnected the motor mount to raise the motor a little to keep from scratching the coating on the headers.

As you can see on my clearance problems on the bottom frame the headers are touching on both side, these are hooker headers. Do the Headman headers have more clearance on the bottom frame?

Both sides are touching the frame. That's why am asking the question of what others are using for header brands. Thanks anyway..

I ordered D-port Sanderson's from ECE and they fit perfect! ECE has the best price I could find.

Re: What are the Best Fitting Headers for a 67-72 Chev!

I don't know if Hooker is making headers anymore for our trucks, but I ran a set of Hooker Super Comps in my burb and they fit beautifully. Lots of clearance in the places that were tight, and they went in and out very easy with out having to remove anything but the clutch Z bar (and obviously the spark plugs).

I read that Hedman just came out with a new mid length header for 67-87 trucks. 1 5/8" part # 69016/69010 or 1 3/4" part # 69026/69020. I think I will be trying a set on my 67.

Do either of you, or anyone else know if they will work with a 67 frame? The 67 frame isn't notched on the inner frame rails around the exhaust area like the 68-72 frames.

Anyone notice any differences when running the engine in the six cylinder position or the rear holes?
