Hello to all. I have been checking out this site for awhile and just decided to join. i bought a 1970 chevy c10 last year. i have attatched some pictures of what it looked like when i got. i will post some more recent ones soon. the truck is in my garage now. i am in the process of restoring the body. it has a 350 with a 4spd with granny gear. i am planning on getting a new trans this winter, i am looking to get a 4 or 5 spd. does anyone have any recomendations for a particular trans. anyways hope to hear from everyone.

Kenny

Welcome to the boards!
That is a beautiful truck there...odd color but it works. Good to see something different.
The 5 speed in later model trucks (mid 90's I think) is a pretty nice unit.
One thing I have to say, you need to remove that air filter. It is nothing but a fire hazard. if you were to remove it ans stick your nose in it, you'd smell gasoline...in the sponge...which is also holding lots of air. All it takes is one small back fire through the carb, and you have a huge burn mark on the hood. (Ask me how I know) I use mine for wall art now...right over my CHEVROLET script valve cover.

So I take it your bug failed the sniffer that year?

Sorry...I had to do it.
I have had many car fires from everything from that kind of air filter to gasoline soaked carpets and passengers dropping his cigg on the floor. Fires suck.
But there is nothing worse than the feeling you get at 2 AM in the middle of no where 1/2 way from Cincinati to Ft Knox kentucky....popping your hood to see a mushroom cloud over a ball of fire. The feeling gets worse as you try to remember how to use the fire ext that is in your hands...seems liek 10 min before my hand reacted and pulled the stupid pin out.
Then, when the fire is out, and you realize there is no one around for miles, no one willing to stop, and looking at your engine with a rubber fuel line missing...just a pile of ashes, burnd plug wires (which were only a month old) throttle return spring gone from the heat, Air filter is obviously gone, all vacume hoses are gone...you'll wanna sit down and cry.
Oh yeah...think of this with no cell phone in your pocket.
This is why I love being able to rig things...I drove it to the next exit....duct tape for fuel lines... a bungie cord for throttle return...RTV will seal upplug wires...

Welcome

Welcome to the board from Fall River Wi. (25 miles N. of Madison). You found the right place to find out anything about the '67-'72 trucks. Your truck is either a transplant from another state or it was a garage queen for many years. All the original Wi. trucks rusted away years ago.

Welcome from Northern Arizona. Got a friend from Wisconsin, uses PBRASAP as his email address! Has turned his garage into an amazing beer museum. He has a '67 GMC longbed and has put untold $$ into that damned V6. If this new(est) motor grenades, I'm gonna FORCE him to put a TBI 350 in...... Hunter.
