Shock Recommendation/Question

I have a 77 chassis with a 58 Apache body on it. Front has a 5” drop with spindles and drop springs. Rear has a flip kit (4 leaf springs) and possibly going to do shackles depending on the stance.

I’ve read that your drop shock is dependent on geometry change. So for the front it would be 3” from the spring since the spindle doesn’t change geometry simply moves the wheel up. On the rear I’m going to run a shock extender to allow for a longer shock as well. So would a 4-6” rear drop shock work and a front 3-5” drop shock? Looking for something driver quality that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Thanks.

I am running belltech nitro drop shocks and for the price, I cant complain. I have spindle/spring in the front and a flip kit in the back and she rides smooth. Thinking of going a bit lower myself so, we will see... I measured the shocks at ride height and right now, they are perfect.

Thanks. I was chatting with summit and they recommended the same shocks. Probably end up picking them up. From your user name you in Hawaii? We live on Oahu if so. Up in the mainland for vacation. That’s where the truck is so putting in a little work.

Ya bro, for the price, can't complain. I used to live on Oahu before I retired from the military... I moved over to Big Island, the cost of living is drastically less here. Not too many old school trucks here so when I roll my square it gets a lot of attention. The roads in Oahu are so bad, I can't imagine I used to roll my 67 c10 on billets there... thankfully I didn't jack them up.

My wife’s family lives on the big island. Kona side. I don’t see many oldies. Here and there. I do pass one everyday on my way to work. Pretty cherry. But couldn’t agree more with the roads. Place is a nightmare. My truck is up in NEw Nexico so i work on it when we come visit family. Would like to get it down there someday.

There are quite a bit on Oahu, lots up on the waianae side. Try and hit up some of the paradise cruisers cruise nights... you will see. I built my 67 on Oahu and it wasnt cheap.. shipping to the aina is a *****. I did find a lot of stuff on CL though so, that helped. I still spent too much - but, that's what we do.
