Glove Box Emblem...are all Plastic?

I bought a new Glove Box emblem. I wanted to paint it like CorvetteJim's here

Anyway, I am really disappointed...I received it and it is cheap plastic. Are they all plastic now? I assumed it was metal since I "thought" originals were metal. Anyone know where to get a metal one?

Original was plastic as well. Thinking about this, an ideal project for a 3D printer...

There was a member that got us all excited about another material, but that fell through.

I was 3D printing my vent boxes and did a couple emblems but they require a lot of sanding priming and more sanding and the detail sucks it ain’t worth the effort 3D printing is layered and you see every layer and it’s still plastic

Re: Glove Box Emblem...are all Plastic?

I always assumed the old one was metal...I guess I just bought the wrong one. I will swap it for the chrome one and paint it black and go back and expose the chrome on the letters and border. Thanks everyone...any good pictures out there of yours?

Re: Glove Box Emblem...are all Plastic?

The original was a flat silver plastic. I think it was flat silver to reduce the glare that I noticed with the new shiny chrome plastic one. It was always reflecting sun in my eyes. I repainted mine exactly like the one you linked using a semi gloss or satin (can't remember) which helps with the glare and looks better too.

Maybe one of these... https://www.classicindustries.com/product/200073a.html if you can deal with spending 60 bucks. I've seen them on the glove box before at car shows.

Thanks Dave! I do like that...only problem is my dash and glove box are silver so not sure how it would look against silver...that's why I was going to paint the other black with chrome showing.

That would be what the old print truck mags used to call "subtle accents".

Re: Glove Box Emblem...are all Plastic?

Make it a custom color - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=480423
Or you could do this: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=633514
With this: https://www.ebay.com/i/191200956824?...kaAhmOEALw_wcB
Or maybe this would work - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Eckler-s-...kaAhb2EALw_wcB

I like that! I think I am going to go with a Chevrolet script emblem...my truck isn't bone stock anyway, so I might as well make it like I like it and want it.

Thanks for the links...very helpful!

That's good info...I new the vagrancies of the gauge cluster bezel colors, but didn't know about the glove box emblem. Makes sense though...and I like the correct one for my year... Did you buy the plastic chrome and paint it?
