Fuel Sender Question ?

I plan to keep the gas tank in the cab of my 64.

I purchased a set of aftermarket gauges, and the fuel gauge is 0-90 OHM.
I know that the sender for 1964 is 0-30 OHM.

Can I replace the sender in the tank with a 1967 unit (0-90 OHM), as the tanks dimensions seem very close.

Re: Fuel Sender Question ?

Ya with those gauges the original sender would not work. Although I'm not at all sure the 67 sender fits. I'm sure someone will chime in soon on that.

Re: Fuel Sender Question ?

The '67-'72 fuel sender mounts to the tank differently than the '60-'66 fuel sender. You could combine the two to make one.

Re: Fuel Sender Question ?

I can't seem to find where I bought mine, but Jegs lists one that supposedly is 90 ohms - might call and confirm ?

Re: Fuel Sender Question ?

Went through this on a buddies truck a couple years back. We ended up removing the little resistor box off of a 67-72 sender and installing that on the earlier fuel sending unit. That way it used the correct later style 0-90ohm setup.
