Need help: Issue with reproduction door handles

I recently got some reproduction door handles for my 1967 C50. After I installed them I noticed they did not sit exactly flush on the door. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the two bolts that hold the handle on did not sit level against the plate inside the door panel, but were at an angle. Loosening them up would allow the handle to sit flush, but they were not as tight as I would have liked them.

I then compared the new door handle to the original handle, and noticed that the threads in the new handle were angled, but the original handles' threads were level.

Is this the way all reproduction handles are made? Or is there something different about my particular vehicle? I called the place they were purchased from but they are closed for the holidays.

(BTW, I hope I did an adequate job explaining the problem. If not, let me know).

Thanks in advance.

I believe that '67's have a different door handle then '68-'72's. Someone else will probaly chime in.

Re: Need help: Issue with reproduction door handles

The 67 handles are different that the other years and they are not being reproduced. The 67 door is different too. It is the only year that has that plate insdide the door over the mounting holes. That plate looks like it would be very difficult to remove completely, so on mine I think I (my body man) will grind the area around the holes to make them flat like all the other doors.

I made a couple of angled spacers out of aluminum and that took care of the problem for me....
