Big Gap Between Headlight & Bezels

New bulbs; bezels and grille from LMC installed on 1967 GMC...BUT...there's a 1" gap
between lower half of all the 4 bulbs and bezels..I've been trying for sometime now to load a pic sent to my cell phone from the shop that's resto-modding it but I just can't make it happen..I hope the way I'm explaining this can be understood LOL
I looked at a lot of 67 GMC's on here and it seems a good many of them fit well without the gaps.. but a few look like mine with the gaps at the lower 1/2 of the lights and bezels..
Does anyone on here know if there's anything that can be done to lessen these gaps?
Should I try another grille and bezels..maybe from another source??
I've known the builder for some time now and he's always been good on working things
like this out on cars and trucks.
Any help will be very much appreciated..

Hey there Jim Bob... I think you'd get a better response if this was posted in the message board as opposed to the build section. Unfortunately I cant help other than that.

Without the pics I can only guess the headlamp buckets are too high on the rad core support. Maybe a few guys have repositioned the buckets on the rad support to line up with the grille and bezels?

Re: Big Gap Between Headlight & Bezels

My answer is that you have the wrong radiator support. For Chevrolet a 1967 and 1968 are the same. 1969 to 1972 are the same.I ran into the same problem on my 1968 Chevy. I had put a later year 69-72 support on it and had to change it. I tried cutting the buckets out and relocating them and it didn't work out well. I bought the correct support. My 2 cents.

that just might be the problem..when I bought the truck(2yrs ago) I noticed
the grille did not have GMC in the middle of it...didn't think about anymore..It was painted white with the bumper..I knew I wanted to go with chrome bumper and grille when I had it restored..So we gonna look at the core support more closely
Thanks irl!!

Here is a picture of my 68 with a 69-72 radiator support. The bezels will not fit. It doesn't work. You will need a 67-68 radiator support.

...thought you had a GMC ...anyway it still seems like I've got the wrong year support on the truck..

Re: Big Gap Between Headlight & Bezels

My first thoughts too as I read through the thread. I think whatever year core support you have now just doesnt match the year of the grille youre trying to use. Sounds like an early grille on a later model core support as others have said.

The Chevrolets are the same way. My truck is a 69 cab, and I had to change the core support to 68 when I changed over, for the very same reason. That's where my money's at brother .. good luck getting it figured out.

I turned my 71 Chevy into a 67 GMC with the same core support. Post some pix so we can see what's going on.

Direct bolt in, or did you have to drill holes? We're talking about the factory position of the headlight buckets, bezels, trim rings, etc. I'm asking, not challenging.

I took the headlight bucket mounts from the GMC and screwed them on the Chevy core support. But we need pics to figure this out.

Re: Big Gap Between Headlight & Bezels

There appears to be a difference in the GMC core supports as well.
67-68 or 69-72
