Blazer rear seat question

I have 3 rear seats from 69-72 Blazers. One of them has the 4 rear leg brackets. The other two only have 2 leg brackets and there is no bolt holes for the other 2 center brackets. They all have the correct short front brackets for blazer with correct uphosltery. What is the difference? Thanks

I have no idea on the difference, Let me know if you want to get rid of on of them though

Mine has 4 in the rear. My middle two are for the middle seat belt.

Ok the correct 69-72 has two back brackets and then two curved bars in the front for attachment to the bottom. The suburban had a rear and a mid seat as you guys know... but one of those seats had taller brackets but look alot like the blazer seat brackets.... as for the four brackets in the back the only thing that i know of that has it like that is the 73-78 had bolt down with four brackets in the back... i could be wrong but i am pretty sure that is how it is.

jer just recently bought a sub and the third seat has 4 brackets on the rear
and the seat belt are attached to them individually....dont know why????

My rear seat has the 4 brackets and is definately from a Blazer. The mounting plate that's on the underside of the Blazer that the seat bolts to also has 4 corresponding holes.

I can't tell if my rear bench is from a blazer or not, but the bed has 4 threaded holes in the rear, and I bought 4 legs off the board and they all line up. None of my legs have threads for seatbelts, so I just bolted them up with the seat brakets to the floor.

Most are saying theres have 4 legs. So only the 2 legs are correct for the blazer. My floor also have the holes for 4 legs. Here is a picture of the seat with 2 legs. Would this be a blazer seat?

My '71 Blazer rear seat has 4 legs and the bed floor also has 4 bolt holes.

My 71 Blazer is the same as SevetyOnes - 4 brackets on the rear with the floor set up for them. The center seat belt bolts to the two center brackets. The full width second seat for my Suburban also has 4 rear brackets, and again, the floor is set up for it.

I've had them with two rear "legs" and with four. If they have two, the center belts bolt into holes in the bedfloor.

Could it possibly be a year thing? I have a 71 and a 72 seat both with 4 and now the seat I bought from gm71jimmy that has 2. Do all of the seat belts bolt to the floor with the ones with 2?

I have two 72's, and both have 4 legs, and center seat belts. And both are CST.

Maybe it has something to do with where they were built? Were Blazers built at more than one factory? I was watching Barret-Jackson the other night and there was a some kind of car like a 58 Chevy or something and they stated the cars built at the factory in California had 1 piece front bumpers and the cars from other factories had front bumpers made from multiple pieces.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I was jut out in the garage messing around with my rear seat. Mine a '72 and has four legs by the way.

Mine has pins coming up through the floor (from the previous owner) with cotter pin holes in that pin so the seat easily removalble. Pretty good idea but there is nothing to secure the seat belts too which I am trying to add. I was just trying to figure out how to get those pins out, and bolts back in.....I'm hoping they aren't welded in. Are those caps on the nuts that are weled to the underside of the floor? Does anyone know what size the original seat to floor bolt would be?

Keep in mind that in event of an accident or roll over, all of the force will be on those cotter pins and not the studs when that seat wants lift to roll forward with passengers in it. Those cotter pins will shear way before the studs. Not saying to get ride of them, but I wouldn't mount the seat belts to something that is only held with cotter pins.

I totally agree cleszkie, that's why I'm trying to get them out of there.

I think the pins are welded in. Right now I'm thinking I will put the two bolts in on the middle legs and leave the cotter pins on the two outside legs as they are now. I would then bolt the seat belts through a hole on the legs in all four locations. Seems like it should be sturdy enough with (4) bolts holding the seat down, and (2) cotter pins. Sound reasonable?

Through trial and error it looks like the seat bolts are 7/16" fine thread.

My 72 has two legs in the back and the center belts bolt thru the floor but i have a seat thats got the four legs...i think they are from the 73s up because thats how the seats are in those plus they have welded on nuts under the bed floors that match up with the 4 legged seats

I have rear seat I watched get pulled from a '71 Blazer that was being parted. It had an original inner spare tire carrier, jack/bracket/spring too, score! The seat has 4 rear legs, with the inner two having seat belt mount nuts built in. I'm getting ready to have it reupholstered and put into my '70 Blazer. I discovered today that the leg mounts on the seat and the holes in my floor don't match. The outside holes line up, but the inners do not. Anyone know if there are years that specifically happened? Is one a "3 seat rear" and the other a "2 seat rear?" May be useful to a future reader.

I did notice that when torn apart, the lower seat frame leg attachment point (brackets) can be removed and re-welded to be moved (vs tapped into the seat frame). So, if reupholstering, NBD, but if you're buying a fresh seat to install, double check.

I do not know what years or assembly locations made the difference but I have seen both 2 Bracket and 4 Bracket seats in blazers from 69 to 72. The ones with only the two brackets the seatbelts have a 90° angle thereabouts where they bolt to the floor. They are rare and I have not seen many of them. The plastic covers also have the same bend to cover the bolts and ends.

I have a picture somewhere of those center seat belt ends. Who knows if I can find them but I will post them if I can.

My thought is GM changed from a four bracket to a two bracket setup at some point for the 72 model year. A May assembled 72 and a February assembled 72 of mine both had a two bracket arrangement with the center belt affixed to the floor pan.

69/70 has 4 legs and the 2 center legs are closer together, 71 also has 4 legs but are evenly spaced and as DeadheadNM stated 72 only has 2 legs.
