Can’t find that number in my books or in here.

There is info in there on how to determine primary rod size.

You might need to pop a rod out to see what you’ve got.

Re: Vacuum gauge adjusting mixture

So I adjusted my mixture today and was able to bring the vacuum up to around 19 pounds according to my gauge. I connected it to the port that is bottom front and center that the green arrow is pointing at. I tried connecting it to the blue arrow port but that only had vacuum when I pushed on the gas. I have to say that the exhaust fumes are much less Nauseous. It must have been running rich.

I connected Quadrajetparts.com and they gave me what they thought the original size of the rods might be and some options or rods I should purchase. It is running fairly well right now so o might wait on getting it dyno turned for a while.

If your electric choke does weird things just remove that blue cap from the barb on the housing. It’s not supposed to be plugged. It’s an air supply.

And likely someone will come along on here and point out that uncapped like that It might allow some dirt inside.
Could happen.
Just run a hose from it up behind the carb to the hose barb situated top centre of the top of the carb. That barb is filtered air.

Re: Vacuum gauge adjusting mixture

Did these things ever run consistently when new? It seems like every time I drive it it runs different including the idle being lower in the morning than in the evening. One time it stutters and another time it doesn’t. Some times is really responsive and others not so much. Is it a quadrajet thing or at all carbs this finicky. I used to have an edelbrock from the parts store and it also seamed like it was always needed adjustment.

Re: Vacuum gauge adjusting mixture

They sure did, but they weren’t modded at all.
The heat riser valves worked, the heat crossover was wide open, the stove and pipe were there for heat when needed and the gas was better.
Still some quirks like you have though.
Mainly caused by ambient temps and humidity changes day to day or hour to hour.

I would suggest that you try (Sea Foam)

I was looking at this page and saw lists of many of the problems I am having including sooting out the tailpipe. It really sounds like it is a needle and jet problem. I also noticed that when I was trying to adjust the idle mixture screws it seems like I could turn the screws a couple of turns and nothing would change.
