1966 tailgate handle

i wanted to come up with a handle that was clean and flat as possible, so i came up with this set up, no visible bolts or screws holding this from the front or back

Re: 1966 tailgate handle

Looks good.

What handle did you start with?

Any detail pictures of the panel cut out and install?

Re: 1966 tailgate handle

89-98 chevy tailgate handle, i took a stock handle and cut roughly 3/4-1 inch out to decrease the height to make it more compact and cut away other material that was in the way, then i made a braket with some strong sheet metal that i had laying around, made some tabs to hold the handle assembly on the inside, and welded a thin nut so one srew bolds it on the bottom so it can be easily removed, then welded that bracket to the inside of the tailgate
