Hi guys,

'72 Chevy C20...My fuel hoses are leaking, the ones inside the engine bay. I removed the hose clamps to take them off, but fuel is constantly coming out. I put a vise grip to stop the fuel loss. Is there a valve or something I can turn so the fuel stops leaking?

unless you have a multi tank setup and switch it to an empty tank. the valve would be on the floor when you open the drivers door. other then that, no. If you can vise grip them and get them to stop, siphon or pump the tank. I have drank a little fuel trying to quick swap a fuel pump before.

There are no valves to shut off the gas. It works by syphoning. The fuel pump then just basically pumps the fuel up to the carb.
I just take a 5/16, or 3/8 bolt (whichever size fits the hose) and insert it as quick as you can when you pull the hose from the fitting. That will pretty much stop the syphoning action. You can of course apply a small hose clamp to that if it continues to leak but the bolt by itself should be enough.

You can stop the syphoning by loosening the line at the tank sending unit.

I have this on the drivers side, but I only have one gas tank, if I turn the valve it should stop the flow of gas?

look under the cab and see if any hoses are connected. if someone bypassed it, then no. if its connected and you switch to a non existent tank, you should only get what fuel is in the line.

if you jack the front of the pickup up that should stop the flow , or at least slow it down....
