That looks killer, but I could not bring myself to spend $1K on a set of door panels. You probably have the only set like it in the world though.

They can be had for around $200 online. Just make sure the houndstooth material matches the rest of your interior... I didn't do my due diligence on mine.. Thanks, too, they look great..

Fixed AC fan issue. High was on, sometimes. Low worked on high some times. Ended up being the AC relay. Low, Med, & high now work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Too darn hot to achieve much. Painted step supports and got a few fender braces stripped and painted. Got a few more long braces to do and then I’ll sort out two good sets for my truck.

Gonna be hot here the next few weeks so my rear suspension tear down is getting put on the slow roll. Maybe a bit of work in the evenings or weekend mornings.

Started on a new bead rolling project. Covering the top of the radiator. Just trying to come up with a design.🤔 May do some more diamond and holes?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Fixing a few things so that the previously CA truck will pass TX inspection. Little things like missing cables in the parking brake, license plate lights and a twitchy horn button that needed to be disassembled and cleaned.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I finally got around to a much needed tune up. Changed the oil for the first time since I bought it earlier this year and got some new spark plugs in. Just need to put the new cables on and the project continues.

Finished bead rolling and punching holes in my center panel to complete my filler set. Just need to paint them. Not bad for a beginner and $100 Eastwood bead roller.

That looks great! I don't know why, but the engine looks really small, maybe it's all the white?

Lol thanks, actually it does look small in the photos lol. I think it's the angles I took. Also the truck is gray. It is a small block tho 😉

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Well...let's say what did I do over the last week. So I had the idea of replacing the steering gear box on my 70 lwb. Mine was originally a manual steering truck. I replaced the set up with a tilt, power column and box from a 72 originally. After about 10 years, and realistically a few before that, she let me know she was done. I couldn't keep fluid in it to save my life. To be fair to the old girl, there is no telling how long she sat on the old truck before I acquired her for mine. Anyway, after searching all over town for a rebuilt unit, I came across the last one probably known to man. I'm thinking sweet, I'm good. As I'm getting everything ready to go back together, my rag joint tells me to go **** myself lol (if that's not allowed a do apologize). Since I don't swap these units out daily, and am still fairly young and inexperienced, I was unaware that there were different shaft sizes. I mean in all fairness, that's like male adolescence 101 right? Should have known. Anyways, no one has a rag joint in stock. This is after finding out that the far majority of parts house associates don't know what a rag joint is. For those shopping for one, ask for a "steering coupler". 3 days and about 5 ups men later, the part makes it to the local store and is picked up. For a small fella, that steering box is a heavy bastard. The whole backwards bolt trick was amazing, thank you forum guys! Got her back together and back on the road. The steering is tighter than before, but not bad. I believe I got most of the air out of the lines etc. so, after about a week, she back up and running. Now I can get back to work and park her in the middle of all the plastic trucks lol. Finally, love this forum and the wealth of knowledge from you all is tremendously useful and appreciated! Keep it going.

I am trying to decide on what one to get.

Let me double check that. For some reason I am remembering 12" I do have to reach a bit to shift - works fine, but I am thinking about adding a longer handle. All in all it works well - it is a cable shifter model

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Fired up the truck for the 1st time since starting the project a little over a year ago. All gauges work. Fuel leak at the hard line from the pump to the carb while trying to fill the TH350. I couldn't get the stainless line to seat, so switching out for a steel one. Got a lot of the bed installed yesterday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Thanks! It's 503 light green, although it's more aqua or turquoise than green IMO. Here's a shot of the interior that I was messing with this weekend too - the washer pump body was loose. The color was one of the major reasons I got it, along with the original farmer's name on the bedsides. I can't wait to get it finished in the next couple of weeks. I'm not sure I can call it a Farm Rat with Old Air A/C and carpeting. Maybe Farm Rod?

Oh, I also decided to try building my own stainless braided fuel hose using Summit -6AN components:
(1) SUM-220667B - Fitting, Male -6AN to 5/18"-18 Inverted Flare (for connecting to the OE-style SBC mechanical fuel pump).
(1) SUM-220186B - Fitting, Male -6AN to 3/8" hose barb (for connecting at the intake to the Edelbrock hardline w/filter to carb that also has a 3/8" hose barb).
(1) SUM-230603 - Hose, Braided Stainless Steel, -6AN, 3 ft.
(2) SUM-220690B - Fitting, Straight, -6AN Hose to -6AN Female.

Oops...I thought you were responding about my truck color. The blue of OregonNed's truck is awesome.
