Wheel vintiques 62

Has anyone used these?

I was going to order a set and the tech from wheel vintiques said he didn’t think they would clear the caliper. There is a pic on summits website with a k5 using them

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

I can't imagine why they wouldn't clear the calipers. They look exactly like stock only a couple inches wider.

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Wheel tech at wheel vintique said because of the “drop down” the part of the wheel that drops down for tire mounting.

Summit shows a pic of the wheel on a 4x4 k5, but who knows if that pic is even a WV wheel, says it is but who knows...

Was hoping someone had firsthand knowledge of this wheel on a 4x4...really wanting it with a set of dog dish hubcaps I have

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

I'm pretty sure these are the series 62. Bought them used from a guy that went to 5 lug. They fit great over the squarebody disc brakes I have on my 63. It's 2wd, but aren't the 4x4 brakes the same diameter rotor and same caliper?

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

So WV makes a 15" steel wheel that looks exactly like a stock Chevy wheel but won't fit on a stock Chevy truck? I really don't think they would be that stupid but you have to go by what the salesman says. He is supposed to know. I think I would call WV and get a 2nd opinion from a different person; maybe ask for the most experienced guy in the building.

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

After this post I’ve been digging some more, a couple of purchasers on summits website said indeed they DO NOT FIT k10s. Seems crazy that they don’t, but that’s what I’m finding...has to do with back spacing and the calipers.

Apparently CUCV wheels have a very shallow backspace

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Had decided on 15x7 62 series wheels for 70 K10 (drum brakes), after reading this thread am wondering if they will fit? 4.25 backspace will be close, but thought they would clear, anyone running them? thanks rg

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

What good is a Chevy replica wheel that doesn't fit a Chevy truck? This makes no sense to me.

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

I called Coker, I can order 1 and do a "trial fit", if it doesnt work they will take it back and pay freight, guess thats the best I can do. No answer why backspace has to be 4.25 on 7 & 8 inch wheels.

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

I dismounted tire and put wheel w/3.75 backspace on front of 70 K10. 4 inch would barely fit but not 4.25. Have been back and forth with Summit Racing and they bend over backwards to help, but havent answered why only the 15x6 is 3.75 bs. Guess if I had designed it I would keep it a secret too...

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Mine hit the tie rod ends. Sold them to someone with a 2 wheels drive and bought real CUCV wheels

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Wanted to know for sure, so ordered 1 15x8 series 62. 4.25 in. backspace is 1/2 inch too much. Was considering 31 series chrome rallys (4 in.bs) but know now they wont fit either. When WV quit custom backspacing they eliminated fit for 4x4s. Thinking I will go with MT classic 3 w/ 3.6 bs

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Yes, I learned that lesson the hard way as well. Do they not do the custom backspacing for extra money anymore?

That’s pretty crazy. I’ve ordered several sets of series 62 wheels from them over the years and you always have to have a custom backspace done if you want them to fit whatever vehicle you are working on correctly. They will be losing a bunch of business I imagine.

Re: Wheel vintiques 62

Powdercoating is no longer an option either, oh well...since I have about decided on the MT classic 3s, which come with 4 closed center caps, does anyone know if the center can be knocked out for manual hubs, or do you have to buy 2 open caps? thanks

I have the 8-lug version (16x8) on my 87 V20, and it all fits just fine.
