Weekend Prep...

I am planning on doing a motor and trans swap at my buddies garage in one weekend, I want to make sure I am going to have everything that may go wrong with me, since it will HAVE to be completed in one weekend.

Anything that you guys have run into or any suggestions in preparation would be appreciated.

I already have new motor mounts, should i get new bolts - if so, do you know the type and size i will need?

I know the basics like new header gaskets and stuff like that, i am mainly looking for the stuff i MAY OVERLOOK while trying to gather everything together before trying to tackle this project.

You know how it is even with every small project we try - something always goes wrong - not all the parts are there, or they arent correct so you have to go back and replace them later.

Any help appreciated, and the luck welcome

Re: Weekend Prep...

I have a 305, runs but i got another one from a buddy -
the main reason is i have a new TH350 that is going in and i got a free motor with less miles on it - plus i knew the owner

BTW i am going to need to get rid of the engine and trans coming out - no cost, but pick up only, i dont want to bother shipping something i am not making any money on. I will be in the Easton PA area when the motor comes out - still runs, trans works, but leaks - i have offered them to a buddy of mine, but if he does not take it and anyone needs a working motor for anything...let me know

Mstrgrn,

Ray Wilson, here. I'm down here below Allentown. I'll take the eng and trans if your friend falls through. Let me know.

Re: Weekend Prep...

It is an easy swap if the engines are the same, 305 to 305 or even a 305 to a 350 same block size, tranny swap from a 350 to a 350 tranny easy as cake to swithc, I would suggest that you remove the front clip first, only takes about 10 bolts and the cowl screws but makes getting the engine and tranny in so much easier....
Check the FAQ's for the how to with nifty pics
Good luck with the swap
