1980,s wiper motor upgrade ?

My wiper has always be slow at a idle and picks up at higher RPM.I was wondering if is a bad motor or is there upgrades like relays or what ever they do to upgrade the headlights and electric windows to get more power to the motors

You have a voltage drop at the motor and or a poor ground. It would be really helpful if you stated what year truck and wiper motor and if it's a stock alternator, any wiring mods etc.

A high current relay should help-but, before going that route, check your linkage for binding, make sure its greased/not binding. I've done the wiper motor relay mod on my trucks and gbodies to speed the motors up. This sidesteps the protection that the stock fuse provides though so you'd want to add a fuse before the relay to the wiper motor.

Other than that he has a 1978 blazer with a 1980,s wiper motor. I don't know anything about the vehicle except it has a 350 engine.

I suspect he has a low amperage alternator perhaps a one-wire, or the wiring has been modified. It's also possible the ground on the wiper motor is not making good contact.

Re: 1980,s wiper motor upgrade ?

What aggravated me the most about rebuilt parts is sometimes small items are removed such as this ground strap. I bought mine before replacing it many years ago and noticed the rebuilt one did not have ground strap. So I drilled the rivet from the frame holding the ground strap and bolted it in place with the slotted screw, this may be your grounding issue as mentioned earlier by VetteVet. My truck does it to some degree, just figured wear and tear on the mechanical parts and degradation of the electrical system overall..
