Delay Wiper Kit Interest???

Since this isn't a 'part' yet, I didn't put it on the parts board.

I am almost finished laying out an actual delay wiper KIT for our trucks, that will be easy to install for the end user and will take the headache out of trying to wire it up yourself. I just need to get some input as to how many folks would actually be interested in a KIT, if it were offered, and any suggestions from those who have actually done it yourself that would make it easier for the next guy.

I have done it in my truck and made one or two for other members, and haven't had any issues that I know about yet, but I know of a few changes that I will make to simplify it for the next guy and welcome suggestions from anyone else who reads this.

I AM NOT trying to get 'pre-order' commitments from anyone and these are NOT for sale yet, so MODS, please don't get your undies bunched up just yet. When these are completed, I will make sure that all the proper steps (and fees) are taken care of to offer these on the board to other members.

So, if a kit for delay wipers is something you would consider installing in your truck, please let me know via PM or reply to this thread.

Thanks,
PUTTER

Honestly, it is one of my favorite additions on my truck. I use it mostly in the mornings (fog).

I'll put in a good word for this. I had bought all the parts save the relays and was procrastinating installing them. Putter put it all together for me and shipped it back for the cost of the ride and parts. What I ended up with was a very sanitary harness with predominately factory connectors that was plug and play. I am very happy with it and you can not tell there is anything non-original unless you crawl under the dash. Only suggestions are to find a cool relay mount bracket if possible and warn everyone that enlarging the switch mounting hole in the dash is a requirement (or at least it was).

Eric, I still have not mounted the wiper knob trim bezel. Any sugestions? The switch fits so close to the dash I think screws would end up in the switch body.

Two or three small dabs of silicone or Form-a-Gasket (clear or black work best) on the back of the little trim ring. And a small piece of masking tape to keep it from sliding until it dries. No holes in your bezel, and it will pop right off if needed!

I would be interested in a kit for sure. Any idea when you may actually offer such and what $$$ may be? Don't drive the truck in rain much since the new paint/body work but never know when you may get caught in a rain. Delay feature would be nice. How many settings or speeds are you planning on?

The switch will have a delay range of about once every two seconds to once every 13 seconds (and every setting in between), as well as low speed, high speed, and push-to-wash with three wipes after release of button.

Cost has not yet been determined, but it will not be anything outrageous. Hard to sell 'em if they cost more than the truck!!!

Hope to have them done in the next 4 weeks or less. I am obtaining supplies to make a run of 30 kits right now.
I have one part left to locate a supplier for. Then it's on like Donkey Kong!!!

Putter, looks like you are getting a lot of interest. I think these will go over well. When do you think you might have these ready?

I assume this is an addition to the original wiper motor, and not a motor conversion?
