Re: New to this group 1970 Chevy K20

Some plants (mainly Fremont I think) were know for putting them in the seat springs and sometimes under the carpet (if equipped). Might be worth a look.

How do I tell what gears I have in my rear end and front axle?

Re: New to this group 1970 Chevy K20

Unless called out as different on your SPID, in '70 the stock gear ratio was 4.57 and is probably what you have.

4.10 is a possibility or 5.13. In 70, those likely had a SPID call out. Your SPID will tell you if you've got a locker. If you do, there's likely a metal tag on the diff bolts.

The front Dana may have a tag too. If it does, it'll likely have the gear ratio on it. The front and rear ratios match.

Of course if you pull the cover you'll be able to see the ring gear which has the ratio on it.
