Re: check this out!!!!!!!

Spent 20 years working on helicopters. Really would have liked to see that drive train. They measure those engines by shaft horse power. Usually around 3,000 to 5,500 shaft horsepower. A non airworthy turbine would be worth at least 300,000 - 500.000 dollars core.

Re: check this out!!!!!!!

Thats why you usually only see them on speed boats with huge sponsors. A few years ago they busted a group stealing them to resell to the boat builders.

Re: check this out!!!!!!!

Holy cow!

5000shaft hP? Is this power measured/rated the same way a regular piston engine is? And is it rated the same, like a 5000hp piston engine is the same as this one? If so, this is one wild ride

Also, did you mention this site so he can come on here and talk about this truck? Please say you did

I'm not sure because I have never worked on a Helicopter. but are you talking lift? I know a helocopter is lift and an airplane is thrust. And if you use a very long boring formula you can convert HP to thrust / lift.

I'm just asking because 3k - 5k seems like a lot no matter how its measured.

and its still a truck I would pay $50.00 to ride in

Re: check this out!!!!!!!

I think the ones Jay Leno has are built using Motors from Jet Ranger helicopters. They do Ford Lightning trucks and custom bikes IIRC.The article I saw said Jay burned the paint off of a car in the next lane with the exhaust from the bike. They use an engine that costs more to rebuild to FAA specs than to replace with a new one.

Re: check this out!!!!!!!

At the Forest park show in St.Louis they bring a chrysler that was the only surviving production experimental car they made with a turbine jet engine. They made only 3. Every half hour they crank it up for folks to hear. The idea was later scrapped. Might be able to find something on it on the web.
