Anybody know?

I have an 89 chev. K-5. The motor is I beleive out of a 91pickup, but my question is how hard is it to replace the rear main seal and is it a one piece or a 2 piece seal. Also does anyone know about how much it should cost to replace? Thanks

If the motor is 86 and later it has a one piece seal. That means you need to disconnected the tranny to reach it. I'm not sure how much a shop would charge but I'm sure it will be pricey.

In that truck it would be a coin toss as to if it would be easier to pull engine or trans/transfer case to get to the seal. It should be the 1 piece, as G said. You are probably looking at 7-8 hours labor at a shop.
