I love this mod. I will be using it myself. Awesome clean work Chris

Did you say you replace the trim piece around the edge at the top? or just polished an original? I need to replace mine, it has some small pitting. You don't know a source for this piece do you? Thanks

I just polished the one that was on it using Mother's and 0000 steel wool. It took the surface rust off (worked really well on the hinge), but there is still some minor pitting. This truck isn't perfect (or as nice as yours) and likely never will be- I drive it too much. I'm pretty sure the trim ring is now reproduced and available at most parts sites for around $75.

Thanks! I'm struggling to find a receiver hitch that fits a '72 Blazer (a chore in itself) with the 37 gallon NWMP tank. I would like to hopefully drag a motorcycle back to the UK with me; the roads there are great for riding and the drivers are very bike-friendly.

Here is the one that came from the 2wd Jimmy. The other one I have is the style that attaches to the sport bumper, I don't think it would work because it also attaches where your blazer tank is located.

Ouch $75! not in my budget right now. Might just take you up on the steel wool idea. I hope to drive mine one of these days.

Had another question, how did you mount the head unit in your console? I really don't want to drill through the console body if possible. thanks

How/where does it tie-in? Think you could get it delivered to me by Fri-Sat?

The plastic is trimmed for an interference fit to hold it in place, so no trimming of the console for that, buuuuuut, you will need a hole for the wires to pass through...

Re: How To: Ruin a Perfectly Good K/5

The one thats pictured bolted directly to the frame, the other one bolted to the two lower bolt holes just inside the tag pocket and I believe also attached to the spare tire bracket. I could prob have it shipped to you by then but it wouldn't be cheap because they are heavy!

Thanks! Thinking about finding someone to give me a sidewall shave- not 100% sold on it, but I like that it's different and 'period-correct-ish' Opinions?

That's kindof the idea. I've seen pics of old snowtires w/ whitewalls and they look pretty cool.

No, I wish. I bought a little bimmer to tool around in and just picked up an SV1000 to have as a toy while I'm there. This one goes back in the barn next week, but it will have a new 'little brother' to keep it and the C10 company. More to come, soon

Yeah, it will stay this way for the next few years, anyway. If ever I find someone who can cut them, I may do it before I replace the tires.
