Enlarged Spare tire tub

Has anyone enlarged their spare tire tub?

I’m running 34” x 10” tires and would like to store it in the factory location but it won’t fit.....

I see they make enlarged wheel tubs for blazers and trucks that maybe I could use inverted?

Or might have to fab up larger suburban spare tire tub...

Re: Enlarged Spare tire tub

I believe it would be easier to add material to your existing one than try to convert something else. I'm pretty sure one of the floor stiffeners would have to be shortened.
Before committing to this I would make sure the diameter of the tire will fit the space. A cardboard mock up would get the answers needed.

I found a picture of the well removed it may help you.

Re: Enlarged Spare tire tub

I just put my "big" tire over the opening and used a tie down strap to hold it. Then used the tub for storage.

Re: Enlarged Spare tire tub

I always thought a nicely done roof rack would make a good place to put a spare up top. Put a cover over it. Or if you use it much off road, make it a cool place to put a high lift jack, maybe a couple of jerry cans and maybe a shovel.
