Exclamation 2007chevy And 2007 Chevy Silv Classic

I'M POSTING THIS IN THE 67-72'S BECAUSE THIS FORUM HAS THE MOST READERS

I've Been Working In S. Tx For A While And Will Probably Get A Full Size In The Next Yr. When I Get Back To Okla. They Just Brought Out The New Body Style Trucks At The Local Dealer Today. I Went Down At Lunch To Look.
Two Other Guys And Me Were Standing There With The Trucks Parked Right Next To The Old Body Style

The General Consensus: 2 Out Of 3 Didn't Like The New one. Myself Being One. I Looked At 2 Lt Trucs One With Tan Int And The Other With Grey Interior. Both Had Black Carpet That Looked Cheap. It Looked Like The Walmart Automotive Carpet Sold In Rolls. Looking At The Truck From Behind I Have To Say I Don't Like The Way The Bulges On The Fenders Look. The Tail Lights Looked Like They Came Off A Dodge. I'm Wondering If This Will Be Gm's Final Nail In The Coffin. The Bed Sides Are Enlarged Like That Of A Toyota Tacomas. Unless You Have 20" Wheels(or Larger) On The Truck The Wheel Well Openings Have Massive Gaps. I Do Like The Dash Lay Out And I Like The Hood Is Rolled Much Like That Of Our 67=72's.

Me and the other guy standing there asked "How Long Will The 2007 Silveardo Classic Be Available?"

I'm not a ford guy and the f150 has a super tall tailgate and a little back window. Dont like. The dodge trucks nose is a bit large for me and their resale is horrible. What to do for a newer full size?

Like me....Don't buy.
I was looking for a new one too and decided I'll run my 03 Dodge until the duct tape won't hold it no more, then I'll get an older (GM) one. But I agree with you. Nothing impresses me on the new truck market at all, domestic or semi domestic.

Re: 2007chevy And 2007 Chevy Silv Classic

on chevy I liked the 99-02 trucks but man. If they are nice they are still bringing big bucks 12-15k asking price.(they were selling crew cab 4.8L for $18,900 here a few months ago) The 03-05 chevy front clip isn't too appealing to me. l like the change on the 06 front end with the different grille and hood. GMC's have looked good all the time in the 99=07 style. I think I'll try to find a 06 or up chevy or 04 up GMC.
Today I kept looking inside bed of this NEW silverado since there is a lot hype over it. Didn't see anything that wow'd me over...

If the looks of the 07 GM trucks don't make you sick, the sticker will....42k for a loaded Sierra.....

I'm sure the look will grow on you after a while. The '03 silverado did for me after a while. I thought it was repulsive at first, then I ended up buying one....

Moved to the 99+ forum

Same thing happens whenever a popular model is redesigned, may people post in forum that that don't like it, etc etc.

Within a year, most of those who complained have one in their driveway and are posting pics of their new vehicles

Checkout the new Silverado customs at SEMA this year

I try to never say never so I don't end up eating my words. In this case I think it's a pretty safe bet that I can say I will never buy a Toyota Tundra. There is now doubt they are a great quality truck. Regardless, I can't bring myself to even think about being seen in one of those ugly things. I have an image to keep up.

Joe- You are correct sir! Right now everyone is puking at the site of the new trucks. I can honestly say I don't see myself buying a Silverado because of styling. I am "trying" to like the GMC's because I want a Sierra Denali. It's going to take quit a bit of convincing myself to get past the new looks "and" the sticker....

Sorry, but take away the bowtie and you would swear this was a mid 90's Dakota on steriods-

Yeah, there was just a little bit of sarcasm there I think the 07 tundra is fugly as hell too.

I personally love the new silverado. I got to finally see one up close a few days ago... thought about trading my 00 in for it.... BUT I want a Camaro more.... so the 00 will stay with me until she dies... a LONG time from now

Well I just bought a 2006 GMC Sierra Crew Cab and love it. Looks like it is built much better than the new body in my opinion. I did test drive the new body and it was nice but the sticker price throws you into sticker shock

The Tahoes were the same way when they first came out, then after they had been out a few months and they hype faded the sticker dropped about $3K on them.

Re: 2007chevy And 2007 Chevy Silv Classic

i'll tell ya, i hate plastic, but such is life. i bought an 06 1500 silverado because it was the last of the "regular" looking standard cab short beds on the market. i will admit (shepishly) that i am a ford guy, but damn, i can't stand the way ford and dodge have gone mega-sized with their pickups. the chevy looks nose heavy, but it was the closest to a regular looking pickup that i could find. i don't think that us regular pickup guys are even on detroits radar anymore.

I agree with that, but who is? I'm still trying to figure out who they are marketing these new trucks to...

Th only thing that excites me about the new Chev GM trucks is the warranty up here they offer 5 years 160km.

obviously no one-with the way sales are down.
remember when trucks were built to be trucks and you weren't afraid to use it like one? now they are more expensive and tricked out than cars. i don't get it

Re: 2007chevy And 2007 Chevy Silv Classic

i must say i still hate the 03 and up chevy nose. to sharp for my tastes. i have hated it since seeing it in 02. the 99 to 02 is my favorite for the newer trucks. they look good and i wish gm ran them longer. Also i think gm new this as they kept the gmsc preety much unchanged and kept it round instead of sharp.. i would go for a 02 and down chevy or a 05 and down gmc. I also really like the 200 to 2002 hd hood as it reminded me of the 67 to 72's/ While alot of the board mebers newer chevys are nice i still have not grown into that newer front end and prob never will. and as for the 07's ...,. JUNK (IMO) they do have a few nice points like the dash but they look like a dang inport!! What is GM thinking ?? hopefully they will be restyled soon

N2TRX,
Nice pic of McGaughy's Silverado from the SEMA show. I was disappointed with the 2007 body style GM trucks out at SEMA. Although I like the Tahoe/Avalance/Suburban new front end and headlights, the new Silverado and Sierra front end makes me want to puke! I could not believe that there were not more people swapping the front ends out on the show trucks that were on the show floor. I guess I'll stick with my old body style.

I don't remember that much bad feed back when the 99's were introduced. They were welcomed. I think I"ll be looking for an 06 07classic with 30K or less miles..

i think the huge front bumper and stacked lights turned alot of traditionalists off. the nose does look heavy.

i agree it looks too big in the front tha tis my same gripe with the new hoe and sub and lanch. the all look so much bigger and heavyer to me. i don't know not my thing really. with the 99 to 02 chevys i thought gm found a new style that would last for many years like the 88 to 99 or the 73 to 87 trucks. but i was wrong.

I looked at a GMC yesterday with the TX edition package. These trucks just don't look right unless you got 20" plus wheels on them and I don't agree that a stock truck must have that.

Yeah the factory 17's look too little on them. They are really pushing the 20 since they get close to 3k for that upgrade.

That's insane since I put 22's with chrome wheels on my 06 for 2k....
