Re: 6" lift, what tires size????

no the 37's will not fit without a body lift on a 1/2 ton, i wouldnt recomend running 37's on a 1/2 ton without re gearing or some engine and tranny mods, i take it the truck is a 5.3?? if so that is a lot of tire to turn with that motor and the truck could be slugish, here is my 2001 1/2 ton with a 6'' lift and t bars tuned a little and load bags in the back, total af about 7.5'' lift, im running 35's and the truck is a little slow on acceleration.

cstm, what does a lift like that cost? I've been thinking about lifting my '07 GMC. I've never lifted anything. I've always dropped everything. And how labor intensive is it?

Re: 6" lift, what tires size????

yeah, you can't fit 37's w/out the BL. Typically 35's go along with most 6" lifts, although not all are created equal (keep in mind some tires from some manufacturers are undersized, and also some lift kits can be made taller than others too, like full drop kits such as Cognito or Superlift Bracket, etc.)

Most lift kits aren't too bad to install. If you've done suspension and brake work before you should have no problem. Cost is anywhere from $1k to say $2500+.

nice truck cstm68, I'll have to post some photos of mine, I've got a BDS/Cognito hybrid lift on my Sierra.

Re: 6" lift, what tires size????

i got my lift kit through my work for a good price, but ShreSled is right, there 1-3k depending application and brand, mine was preaty easy to install because i did it at work (les schwab tires) so i had all the rite tools, a good lift and an alignment rack, the hardest part was cutting up the diff tabs and a few things on the frame on a truck i had just bought hahahah

Re: 6" lift, what tires size????

Well its all about backspacing and what type of lift you have, I have seen people with just a 3" bodylift and a T-bar crank run 37's with some minor rubbing.
- if your getting a knuckle lift that widens the front track width then 35's are going to be the safe bet.
- if its a full drop kit and the track width stays the same and u run stock backspacing on your wheels and some cranking then yes u could probably get away with it.

But IMO i would stick with 35's on any Halfton unless your going to start upgrading parts and re-gearing.
