A bunch of Squarebodies found

In my travels this week, in Nebraska, I stumble across a bunch of Squarebodies that somebody is collecting? All appear to be in decent shape none appeared to be in excellent condition. NONE appear to be parts trucks. Didn't have time to check it out further. Maybe next time.

I bet there were 18-20 squarebodies in this lot. Mostly 1970's, a few 80's.

Re: A bunch of Squarebodies found

Wow! I would be out there wandering around all the time if they were mine. Too bad they aren’t at least under a roof. With my experiences with trucks sitting around, I have to ask-how does a person keep the mice out of them??

And I can’t help but wonder what is in the building.....

Just curious, what's a "rare" squarebody"?

Re: A bunch of Squarebodies found

Glad to hear somebody know of this. I think it’s pretty cool he has all of these!

The building going up isn’t finished so possibly some of these could end up in there.

As far as mice go. I doubt you are going to keep them out, but maybe that’s what the building is for.

Surprisingly most of these trucks appear to be in good shape only one I saw had really bad cancer.

I think this is a problem that varies by geography. Mice aren’t a huge problem where I live, unless you leave food in a car or trailer for them. That said, I’ve looked at cars on lots in Arizona that have been ravaged by rats.

Re: A bunch of Squarebodies found

Mice are more of an issue in newer vehicles with wire that's made on "Green" assembly lines with vegetable oil lube.

Rats seem to chew on anything that suits them.

Shawn Woods seems to lean toward Peppermint oil as a deterrent. It won't drive them out if they have an established warren and have a foodsource but they'll avoid your vehicles and homes if you use it where they aren't already a problem.
I plant spearmint and peppermint along the foundations on my home, garage, and Barns. It might or might not work but it doesn't hurt anything. It smells good when I run the weed trimmer through it too.

Dryer sheets and Moth Balls don't seem to do much.

I cut up Irish Spring soap bars. I mainly use them in the shed. But it works!

Nope...
They even eat bars of soap... Irish Spring specifically.
You just don't have mice in the shed.

Re: A bunch of Squarebodies found

Well it’s worked for me. I don’t have mice. Only one time, I forgot to put the soap out in the shed with the mowers, and they made a nest in the engine area.

I trust the empirical video evidence from the trail cams. Shawn Woods video tests various antique and modern traps and folk deterrents on video.

You no doubt put out traps and caught enough of them to deter them.

Lol, I don’t put out traps. When I watched that video, I was laughing at that mouse! I wouldn’t have believed it, unless I saw it myself. Maybe that mouse had some serious sinus problems and couldn’t smell the soap. 🤷*♀️

Re: A bunch of Squarebodies found

Some rare square bodies would be 73-75 full convertible blazers, short bed 73 and up Cheyenne Supers with 454 engines, 1975 Beau James and Gentlemen Jim GMC pickups, 1980 Indy Hauler pickup, just to name a few. Please feel free to add to this list.
