Suburban Cummins swap

In gathering parts for my pending Cummins/Suburban Swap I found a site - “Rob Bonney fabrication” that makes a frame boxing kit for a 67 to 72K 20 trucks

Do you think this would be close enough to use on my K10 suburban frame to box the frame in or will I be doing lots of crazy modifications & should make my own?

Just make your own. Some of it will fit, but you can get a dimple die if you really want the holes.

It's going to require plenty of mods between the wheels.

I don't know a lot about the swap but I do know if you type "diesel swap" into the google box at the top of the page, click on the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com", and click on the Google button you will see a lot of threads on the subject. Make sure that the thread you click on is for the '67-'72 trucks because the search will include all years.

Suburban 4wd frame rails are exactly the same as pickups except at the rear bumper mount and various body mount holes so the kit should work.

I boxed my frame on my crew cab cummins truck using 3/16 plate, i had it sheared to fit the inside frame channel height, metal and shearing was about $120 or so, i boxed it from front to the front rear shackles just like that kit. For the front curved areas i had the metal sheared a few inches taller, held it up to the frame and traced it out, cut the lines using a portaband set up as a bandsaw table, it was easy.

My truck frame is very stiff even with just a lower transmission crossmember, i would highly recommend boxing the frame.

Kind of funny, the crossmember i made is very similar to the one they sell and ive never seen a 6bt mounted using the 94 and up mounts....
