Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Another night of cabinet blasting. Got the intake, oil pan and lower crank pulley done.

Tomorrow I plan to finish blasting all brackets and fasteners. Hopefully I can have the engine reassembled by the weekend.

Here are pics from tonight...

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Another night with the cabinet blaster and some assembly and cleaning.

Got the intake, valve covers, water pump and timing cover on the engine tonight. Got the wrong crank seal, so I could not get the harmonic balancer on or the bottom pulley. Tomorrow is another day.

Blasted some of the brackets and misc. pieces tonight. See photos. Also washed down my carb and got it looking more presentable. I hated the thought of going through the process of cleaning and repainting everything only to have a greasy looking carburetor. I am happier now.

Tomorrow hopefully finish assembling the engine and get some more pieces blasted and painted.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Everyday I am getting closer to having my truck ready for the road. I keep looking at bigasstrux.com for inspiration. Lots of great pictures, videos and most important trucks. Ever since I saw this website I knew I had to build one. I look forward to having a completed truck by spring.

Happens to be my favorite color. The truck would have been blue as well, but I have done that color already.

All pulleys are black, brackets now black, sand blasted the breather tonight and painted it black.

Ignition cap is black. But I did buy a set of yellow ignition wires today though...

The firewall, inside fenders and under hood will be same color as the exterior. I have the hinges, latches and other stuff blasted and painted black. Hoping to get at the frame and front driveline and get it blacked out this weekend.

When I get closer to assembly I will be blasting the rad support and innner fenders and blacking them out.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Worked on the truck today. I worked at prepping the front end. I started stripping the passenger side of the firewall and chassis.

Passenger side is now ready for paint. Need to get the driver side done now.

A few pics...

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Is there any difference at all between the C-50 cab and the K/C 10-30 cabs?

I agree, I am going through a little withdrawal myself. It was "Family Day Weekend" up here in Ontario. My wife gave me a little gock when I tried to get out in the shop.

I did do some work, just nothing photo worthy. Hoping to get the firewall in primer and the front half of the driveline in a little paint.

Its a short week, off to Daytona for the weekend so no work done over the weekend and first half of next week.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Good to be back and even better that I can be back in my shop. Too much time to think when your away... ha!

I got the firewall in primer and got a little head of myself and did some topcoat. What does everyone think of the color? I think it will go well with the blue block and black accessories.

Here are some photos, not the best resolution, left my camera with my wife in Florida.

Started on the rear of the cab.
