Sorry,I'm afraid you've listed all I know about that truck other than 9.75 x 16.5 wheels. I really like it,too! This is how I remember them (and ran them). l this scrambling and forking out huge money for original hub caps and they look fantastic with none!

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

Thanks for digging out some pictures for me! More are always welcome. Sorry about the delay getting back to the thread. Between a cold and a lot of updates trucks were not first on the list.

AndrewS That is a nice stock looking truck any chance of seeing a spid?

Special-K Tim Thanks for digging up some great pictures, appear to have made more than just my day.

Jocko Mark RED really... That is a nice Custom Deluxe in med. green. Is it a CD or a Highlander upgrade?

Went to the tire store the day after I bought my '72 Suburban in '82 put on some L78-15 on/off road tires and a full set of shiny new chrome closed lug nuts. It looked so much better! Left the non-stock wheel covers there. Went back three days later for a road hazard replacement and they were on a car in the parking lot.

No problem, Tim. Pretty much bone stock, aside from a repaint and engine rebuild in the past.

Is a solid Cheyenne really that rarely seen or have most remaining been Deluxe Two-Toned?

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

I don't think they were that rare. But,back then more wanted the deluxe paint job when going with a higher optioned truck. Look at how many lower level trucks had the deluxe paint job. It was definitely the predominant trend. It stayed that way, too. My '90 Blazer Silverado and '92 K3500 SLE are both solid paint and they stand out as the exception. Generally, when people load up with options they want it to show. I like the toned down/got it all inside look personally.

Here's my 72 K20 Cheyenne. Its pretty similar to the one you posted originally, but a previous owner had white pinstripes painted where the upper molding would normally be.

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

Found your great looking truck shortly after starting this thread. As much as I like black living in the desert makes it more than a little impractical for my needs.

On the stripe, there was a factory optional stripe offered in white or black, does your truck have the RPO D89 on the SPID?

Like I posted earlier in the thread on Cheyenne down trucks, belt moldings were optional. The Cheyenne Super and the Promo Package Highlanders included the upper/belt molding. Just in case you thought yours was missing. Is it listed on the SPID as BX2?

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

Tim- I'm pretty sure you could order a Super without the belt molding too. My Supers have both moldings and since that was standard on a Super there are no moldings called out on the SPID. Jake (Tomahawk30) had a Super that had only the lower molding and it was called out on the SPID. I guess because that was non-standard for a Super. It was med olive over dark olive conventional 2 tone instead of deluxe 2 tone. So if you're looking for examples you might want to see if there were also solid colored Supers in fleetside. I think I've seen solid Super stepsides.

Good points. It is worth mentioning that Cheyenne Super stepsides and chassis cabs did not include upper or lower molding. As far as a Super not having the upper molding or SPID callout questions I think it would be necessary to look at each as an individual. Plants and build dates could all have an effect.

Custom Two-Tone dark olive/med.olive should have had full trim like this one but I am sure there are variations out there. Of course as always I would like to see any SPIDs that reflect these kinds of production anomalies.

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

Good memory on the Cheyenne Super Bill! Still miss that truck.... Here's the spid on the K20 Cheyenne. Doesn't look like it came with the upper molding or the stripe, although the stripe has grown on me. Wasn't a huge fan to start with, but I kinda like it now.

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

C/10 King those are some nice trucks and that orange Cheyenne is a real family heirloom.
Want to thank everyone for posting pictures or looking through their collections.
Also the subtle reminder by some that the earlier CST trucks are very very similar took root today when I saw FirstOwner69's truck. The 517 maroon looks great and I don't like red!
Please feel free to post more CST trucks preferably without belts.
Also can a moderator add "and CSTs" to the thread title?

Hey C/10 King, could you post more pics of the hugger orange Cheyenne and share the specs on the wheel/tire/drop setup? That truck looks great! Doesn't look as low as a 4"/6" drop. How does it ride?

I don't have any closer newer photo's, but it belongs to my tightwad cousin Greg who hardly ever brings it out or puts any money into it. Back when this photo was taken it had a 3/4 drop, polished slotted mags 8" in front and 10" in the back wrapped with 255/60/15 TA's ......and the ride was good.

Re: Solid paint Cheyennes

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to decide how much to lower mine. I want to be able to still enjoy driving it without worrying about every little bump in the road but would still like it to ride and handle better than oem. I'm pretty sure about a 4/6 drop but that one sure looks sharp. So 255/60/15's all around? Did it ever rub the fenders since the tires stuck out a bit?

His truck has no rubbing issues. I have a 3/5 drop on my shop truck with 245/60 in the front and 295/50 in the back and no rubbing issues.
