"that motor ran great before I pulled it"

I was told, "You could probably re-seal it and run it, just the way it is"
Sure glad I didn't do that.

Not really a problem, it is still a good core, and that's what I bought it for.
You never know, 'til you tear 'em down.

If I don't see it run or apart I assume its a core plus what ever may be bolted on the outside. It may have run good but what was the standard for good? I always like the ads that say corvette motor. Never new there was so many of em. That one has had a hard life.

Just like, "Ran when it was parked."

I was just going to put a used Vortec in my Blazer. My wife insisted I should rebuild it. I'm glad I listened to her.

A spare top ring and you're good to go. Don't forget to unstick the oil ring.

A guy came by and picked up my old 250. He even gave me a hundred bucks for it and cleaned a lot of scrap out of my garage.

I agree, I was once bitten by the "it ran great when pulled" deal and never again. Unless I have intimate knowledge of the car/engine or was able to test it before pulled its a core to me.

If you are wanting a set of stock heads, I have a few sets here you can have before I haul them to the scrap yard.
