'72 C-10 Heater Core

Want to change out my Heater Core. Have had the truck for 20 years now and figure it's time, lol. Plus I'm getting poor heat.

I did a little checking around and the Spectra Premium sounds good, but what would you all recommend as far as quality and fit?

No Air Conditioning by the way.

Thanks

I also used one from NAPA I believe it was a Spectra brand, but it is brass and copper not aluminum. From what I have read the aluminum ones do not hold up well.

Re: '72 C-10 Heater Core

Appreciate the reply. But have to say that I bought an original type Aluminum replacement Radiator for the same truck about 18 years ago and it's been great. I've had no problems with it.

It also gave me the opportunity to go to a larger core. Believe I went from a 2 to a 3.

Re: '72 C-10 Heater Core

Airbox might be full of trash. Also you can try flushing out the heater core. Just unhook your heater hoses from the heater core and use a garden hose to flush out the core. Flush it both ways a couple of times. I did this on my 68 Pontiac and it went to blowing hot.
I did put a new heater core in my 70 C10 though. It's a little work, I took the hood off and dropped the inner fender down. I found plumbers putty makes a good seal for the airbox. Seals great and looks factory.
I got my heater core off Ebay. Found a brass and copper one and it fit just fine.

Re: '72 C-10 Heater Core

I like the copper heater core over the aluminum ones

Other thing to pay attention to is there are two thickness of heater cores a thin one or a thicker one
