WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it REAL?

Hello all, I am thinking about buying this truck that Jtrux and I found, a real Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside Big Block Truck, we thought yeah sure a real BBC Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Hmmmm? Is this REAL? Thinking about buying it, here are pics. Can anyone disprove this by the SPID? I just found out what "small issue" it has from factory can anyone else find it? Here is a pic of the SPID and tell me what you see is different from this truck from factory to its present condition. Last thing, WIW opinions? BTW, I ran the numbers and it has the original matching numbers BBC engine. It has the factory AM/FM radio, tilt and even the BB muffler brackets to prove its a BBC. I am seriously thinking about buying this truck but its damn tax season ugh! What do you all think opinions?

Not sure what you are referring to that is inconsistent with the SPID label, but that isn't 525 yellow.

interesting. the model is a CE10734? doesn't the last two digits signify a fleetside?

C=4x2
E=V8
1=1/2 ton
07=cab to axle dimension 42-47"
34=fleetside

BUT! I'd still jump all over it!

I agree, wrong color yellow. It looks to me like it was restored a while ago. They painted the interior black and switched over to some black interior pieces.

Re: WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it RE

tcb-1 WINS the prize! I believe that it is a true SWB BBC Cheyenne Super truck, but it is NOT a true stepside. tcb-1 is correct the model # 10734 signifies that it was originally a Fleetside truck, stepsides had model # 10704 ask me how I know I think they must have switched boxes when they repainted it. The original light yellow color can be seen from the cab forward but not in the bed. Final question what do you all think its worth? Is this truck worth $4k, $5k, $6k? It has some rust on doors and rockers but everythin else is ok? WIW? It does have the original matching numbers400 BBC.

I would think a running BB swb truck could be worth at least $3500. I'd return it to a fleetside for originality sake and out of personal taste. But the question is, what would you do with it, and how much are you willing to spend?

I don't know what I'd give for it. Any Cheyenne super short wheel base with big block has to be worth at least $3500. But I might be wrong. The highest offer I've ever had on my 72 COPO is $1100. I'd give $3k-3500 for it if I was looking.

Re: WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it RE

One like this in really good original shape may fetch $10 - $15K. Looks to me it needs a lot of work to get it to SPID shape. It needs bb ac brackets and compressor. It needs a new bed if you want fleetside, it needs new trim to return it to parchment. needs new passenger door. Wiring has probably lost all pliability so it more than likely needs all new wiring to avoid fire hazard after 40 years. I'd say it's worth somewhere between anywhere from $5000 to $7500. If you didn't need a new bed (which means new paint), door and wiring it more than likely would be worth upwards of $10K.

I would def return it to Fleetside SWB and original, but this thing needs a complete restoration. BBC runs good, but is this truck worth $5-6k as it sits? It needs pretty much everything to look great. I am not sure if it is.

Re: WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it RE

Even in georgia I'd want solid doors and rockers on a 5K truck. Of course factor in the big block and the fact that it's a super Cheyenne and yeah it's probably worth it....but not a bargain. I would say a lot of it is going to have to do with what's it going to cost to add a fleet bed and some new doors? After you figure that in....would you still think it was worth it? 4K-4500 would make me feel better about having to replace those parts. Selling the stepside bed would also help offset the cost of replacing it with a fleetside.

I'd say 4k but only to put it back all original. I wouldn't pay that for it to modify it from original. It looks like it has an aftermarket aluminum intake.

It ran surprisingly well, it's got a lopey cam in it. The intake is one of the older single plane torquer intakes. I for one would like to hear some more opinions as fas as the value is concerned, i'm curious to hear what everyone thinks.

Oh btw good job tcb-1 for identifying the error. Good eye.

In that condition it's a $2,500-$3,000 truck around here, regardless of the badges.

Re: WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it RE

In my opinion I would say 3500 in its current condition. The classic vehicle market is soft right now and These trucks just aren't bringing as much as they should/could/did. When you say "numbers matching" what exactly do you mean? They didn't match the VIN to the Block on these trucks. I'm not saying it isn't original to it, I'm just saying that Numbers matching is a tough thing to prove w/out documentation. I assume you mean that the block is '72 vintage, which is a good start. If you get it, buy it because you want it, don't think about the possibility of flipping it. It will be awhile for the markets to come back enough for you to get what you have to put in it to bring good money. I agree with some, a really nice good original style restored truck could bring 12-16k, but you would put almost that much into it getting it back to that kind of condition. As for the truck itself I would buy it for 3500 if I had the money and the time to work on it. Please don't think i'm being negative. I think it could be a really nice truck. I'm just a litle more of a realist now. I was a dreamer for years and ended up being upside down and on the loosing end of so many things I had to change my view point a little. If someone tells me something will be worth 4-6k, I now value it at 3500-4k, that way when I go over budget (as we all do) i don't loose my shirt if anything ever happens. Good Luck with it!! Keep us posted with updates!

it is a nice base, but i wouldnt pay over 4500... even then i wouldnt be happy about it.

but if you are wanting to rebuild one, id buy this one and do complete strip to the frame job. leave your other step alone!

Re: WOW Cheyenne Super SWB BBC Stepside 400ci Truck REAL? Thinking about it, is it RE

The spid describes the truck as shipped. What you are looking at is a truck that may or may not be correct to the spid. Check the frame VIN to the CAB VIN and the block VIN. If they all match--that's a good start. Butttt and this is a BIG BUTTT--it is a rare truck that needs A LOT to be as valuable as some think. If it can be bought for under $4-5K and runs super, you might be able to bring it back to original without loosing your BUTT. If you think you can invest $5,000. and then fix it up to be worth $20K cause it's rare and not put $5-10K into it---think again. THIS IS NOT A tri5 chevy car or a 63-67 vet where matching numbers mean a lot. Any aftermarket parts will hurt the restoration. NOS stuff is hard to find and expensive. A non-professional restoration will not equal $20K + value and a professional restoration will cost more then the final value. So, that said, if you want it --buy it but don't base it on emotion--try some logic and real common sense cost projections. What and how do you plan on using it? Huck

If you are buying it to keep forever,... it's definitely worth $5k-$7k.
If you are going to try to make money,... I'd pass.
To me,... this is the absolute best model of the 67-72's. '72 BB, swb, Cheyenne Super. I'd love to have it.

also not the most savory color combo out there and with the below eyeline mirrors, if you put it back to stock it's not going to be the prettiest super around, but a rare truck indeed. as a few have said, if you are buying to keep i'd give a little more, if a flip is in mind i think you will lose your tail if you sink much into it.
