Re: Possible deal for Al's new 68 c-10!!!!

Nice clean truck.. it's nice when you don't "have to" do things but can get to them at your own pace.

My truck has a rear tank but had the gas cap still in the cab. I almost had a cab full of gas one time. Took the truck to a shop and the tank was almost empty... the mechanic drove by gas station, took the cap off, had the nozzle in hand when he noticed some light coming from the short filler tube just before sticking the nozzle in.
Man, that would of been a mess... filling that hole was first priority when I got new paint job.

I know you want a finished truck, but they can hide a lot. Look at project Jezebel on here.....read that thread before buying anything....
Have you considered a nice shortbed project that's almost at paint stage? I've seen a few on here and ebay lately...seems you have a good paint shop at your disposal and could drop it off there....could get the suspension/brakes done first so you don't have to worry about the fresh paint. Just something to consider....

With all the changes you suggested that you will make, I would think $9-10K would be my (your) top dollar, . Let us know how it comes out.

roll pan to bumper- no p/s, no p/b, still 6 lug- ugly wheels.
side markers filled, fake gas cap on cab, cut dash, 2 different style gauges. change out dash bezel since he covering the choke hole with a sticker. ugly floor shifter, swap with a auto tilt column...

u need to start looking out here in cali.. alot nicer trucks for way cheaper.

Well guys I spend a good amount of time on the phone with the gentleman (super nice guy) we shared car stories, he told me about another two c-10's he owns, a camaro, an impala 62 and a 70 road runner. He is not pressing for money by our conversation. We talked about everything that was done or not done yet and the reasons why as this was just his ride around daily driver vehicle. He told me that he already turned down an offer of 14,500 in person with money in hand. After hearing this I think that I may have to continue looking. If it is a bluff I am not willing to pay more than 10k tops and still have to worry about bringing it down to South Florida. I am not writing it off yet but we are not in the same ballpark. stay tuned boys....
If you would all keep an eye out for a 68C10 SWB that DOES NOT need to be painted, could be a roller also as I am more than likely do a LS3 install in it.
To havwe an idea I am looking for a truck as good as my 71 if not better.
I appreciate everyones input and I definetly noticed that lots of us are on the same page..
Thanks

nice ride, $8-10K in todays market in my opinion. Add air ride, interior and the little things it will probably need and you'd have a $15K truck. I'll keep an eye out up here. Lots of trucks in Kansas City, Tulsa, Oklahoma City.

Re: Possible deal for Al's new 68 c-10!!!!

8-10K max. Paint and body look awesome. Black rocks! Other than that, it looks like it drove thru pep boys with the crap magnet on. Clear lenses, ginormous Holley air cleaner lid, ugly tach held on w/ a hose clamp, no tilt, ugly wheels, and the cowl hood detracts from the lines of the truck. All IMHO of course. For 14K or more, I would expect the engine compartment to look like your current truck's. Nothing matches in this one.

Re: Possible deal for Al's new 68 c-10!!!!

I agree with Hart Rod.

pwr disc brakes // if done right $1000 and your labor
classic auto air $ 1300 and your labor
make interior more stock appearing $1000 and your labor

I love the truck, but IMO it needs to be bought at a price less than your mods to make it a great DD in south Florida

my thoughts exactly.. it looks like a big window 67, not a 68..

Al, sounds like you passed already but I still want to pick it apart...

The bad..
1. aftermarket sheetmetal, I have it but i'm cheap
2. no marker lights
3. no nose trim or letters
4. aftermarket dash
5. 6 lugs (drums?)
6. manual brakes
7. no A/C (you live in Miami)
8. roll pan
9. 1980's interior
10. average 350
11. has windshield trim, rear window trim, cab trim but no side trim?
12. peep mirrors
13. 1990's rims
14. $15K +

the good:
1. paint
2. lowered
3. bed liner
4. runs

I say to find a chassis and cab, build your own and do it right! Then there is no question as to what you have...

Nice truck...but i agree al with others when i say 9,500-11,000. Hard to say by pics but i see things that other trucks for 15,000 have this one should have. I live closer than you and would be glad to look at it closer for you. Nice truck hope you get it.

I am sorry big al 71 but this truck seems far off the mark for your standards. I think you will pay too much then spend too much. JMHO.

Al, I vote for this one

Man, never find deals like this when I have the time/cash....should just pick it up to finish....truck had so much potential and already a following of people wanting it completed...throw a V3.2 dropmember on it and fix the bumpsteer, put the bed on, throw a motor it and instant magazine/show truck...

I know it's not at at all what you want Al, just a really cool shop truck!

Would you still be interested in this truck Al? If so I can get the guys contact info for you. I correspond with one of his friends through e-mail occasionally. If I remember right it is an actual 68, just had the sidemarkers trimmed.
