Yeah really, I need a black dust shield off a steering wheel. It's molded/glued onto the front hub of a steering wheel. If you can pull one off cleanly in one piece I'm in the market, and happy to pay for your time. I figure there must be some steering wheels out there that are otherwise useless. Reproductions may use the same shield, couldn't tell you.

I'm pretty sure they can be sanded to perfect, so a scratch is no big deal. Otherwise unbroken please. I need one for what's otherwise a nice wheel.

Here's what a steering wheel dust shield looks like. This is the wrong one, but close enough. See image for how I think these are fastened onto a wheel.

Other than that I'm open to an NOS wheel

I would sell this whole steering wheel (minus the horn contacts) for $10 plus shipping. It has several cracks, but may work for what you need.

Push to shove I come up short, then I'd like to take you up on your offer. Thank you. I might ask if you can take the hub off, put some money in our pockets as opposed shipping costs. The new wheel came from IL., $65 to ship. Pretty sure we can get that down to $10ish.

Say Bowtie, you out there man? Quite a month I've had, long story. Anyway, "drinks" on me if you cut the spokes off and just ship the hub, it's far cheaper. For caution sake, I don't know if any portion of the spokes are steel.

On a side, why do you figure some of these wheels come without dust shields?

A. Used pry bars to remove the steering wheel. Seems kind of foolish - doesn't mean it's not the most likely

B. Plain got bungled up.

C. Cracked. Least likely I'd think, there's no pressure on these. But I did see one cracked because there was a huge fault line through the entire wheel.

D. Rebuilt somehow....Hmm, couldn't tell you. I can say there was a "run" on nice steering wheels without dust shields. I bought one, original part #9749753. The hub is painted black. Not sure why that is, but it's a nice finish, and there's no indication of rust or repair, hub is solid.

Thanks for checking. I realized that push come to shove, I can pull the dust shield off my "dog" C-20. That said, I'm always in the market for a real nice wheel.

Tony, I was able to get the dust shield off the wheel. I used box cutter for the outside edge and used an assortment of dremel bits to get the inside edge. The dust shield appears to be installed using a heavy malleable glue; kine of like very heavy clay. After I removed it, I cleaned up the edges with a rasp, file and sand paper. I then used 5 minute hobby epoxy to glue it to my steering. thx. Martin
