MJN, Do you still have that Blazer? I like the paintjob.

Let's see if this works...
Yeah. I had to pull a computer restart.
Top pic is later, after we straightened out the bumper and installed a Class 3 hitch.
Lower shot is before that, it was hanging ''cattywompus'' dings and all.
Just under there this weekend. The passengers side bolt holding the shock to the lower mount disappeared after a visit to a friend's ranch the weekend prior. The drivers side was finger loose, when we pulled it to go to the hardware store for new fasteners.

Hey, I also thought it was just 'T' until I went out and took the picture. I corrected it in the edit.

Again truck is 50 years old, lot of things can happen. One scenario is it may have been a truck on the lot BN purchased and the dealer changed the bumper before sale. Most step bumpers were dealer installed. Another is BN may have swapped right after purchase to suit their needs. You can see that the step bumper option is not v38 in previous posts.

Not trying to be rude here, only correct and trying to educate. That bumper IS NOT the V38 option. That bumper is a Luverne brand aftermarket step bumper. There is only one step bumper option from factory, the V43 option. I don't know how anyone can vouch for exactly what was done on this truck from day-1. It is possible that bumper has been on the truck since it was brand new. Luverne is a supplier that has products, such as step bumpers, listed in the Silver Book. The Silver Book is the catalog of Non-GM upfit components offered for GM trucks to be installed prior to delivery and included in sale price. Think dump bodies, utility beds, snow plows, winches, tow bodies, etc.

Nope, sadly. It was sold to another board member mudduck74 somewhere around Battle Creek, Mi. He hasn't been on the board since 2010 and I haven't seen any pictures or if it still survives today.

I've had my '68 C/10 since 1973. In that time a lot of people have tried to buy it from me. The one comment I have never heard from a former 67-72 Chevy truck owner is: "Boy, I'm sure glad I dumped that Lemon Truck!'' Mostly, a guy will come up while I'm filling up at a gas pump, and say, ''I used to have one like that, but I wish I'd never sold my truck.''

For the record, I'm keeping mine.

Wish we could keep them all- life gets in the way sometimes and it is just a truck after all. Granted I had some good memories in that Blazer, drove it right after I got my license and then back and forth to college. The salt began to eat it and I had other projects in the works and an engineering degree to finish- so off it went.

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?

Would this be an original V38 bumper? It's not on the SPID on my truck. I bought this truck in CA 5 years ago and it came with painted bumpers front and rear. It looks nice on the truck to me.

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?

On stepside trucks, I think that ^^^ bumper would look better if was 4'' shorter on each end, I know it wouldn't protect the fenders but it would look better IMHO

Re: Factory V38 Rear Bumper ?

Interesting, maybe this bumper is for a Fleetside? Does anyone have a step side with an original bumper on it for comparison?

Yes, that's it. they would look nicer a bit narrower, but they have to be as wide as the body. The Stepside bumpers are a bit narrower than Fleetsides. Not the same bumper. I've seen them narrowed and it looks good. It's called Custom

I'm usually all about original equipment but I will shorten my rear step bumper. I'll post pics when I do it.

Thanks for the picture Mark
