I'm writing this to response of the flooded market. We drive these trucks because we want to. We like their looks, style, good and bad points.

For example. Recently I purchased a 88 1/2ton LWB. I got it cheap. I could do a little work to it and put in a windshield and have a work truck. NO, instead I see this a greats part donor for my 68. I have all the TBI, overdrive , ac to update my truck. I could maybe use the seat too. I think my truck would be just as comfortable and practical as the 88 then.

Yes it would be easier to go the other route but then I'd be everyone else in a 17 year old work pick up. I plan on making my 67 1/2ton 292, 3speed my work truck. I drive older cars because I want to. Anyone else on the same page with me?

Add me to the club, I wasn't that way when I started me and dad had the idea of building this truck together and then when we got done if it was worth more than we had in it we were going to get rid of it. We have barely started and already have to many memories tied up in it together to ever get rid of her. This truck is going to be in the family for awhile, she won't be a daily driver but she will have the wheels driven off of her every chance I get!

Im with you guys I drive a 67 swb step w/a 250/350th and it gets allmost the same gas mileage as some of this newer plastic rubbermade pos that are on the market today only ours have looks and style cant forget power.

Even tho mine is a newer, I am always being asked about my truck even tho it is not perfect. everyone is intrigued by these older trucks. I kinda like the attention for what I consider to be an obsession.

For daily comfort I prefer my 2000 Z71 especially on long trips. I get 15 city and almost 19 hwy. Comfy seats and ride, ac, nice stereo, lots of power, 4wd.... I love my "Z".

BUT NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING beats the enjoyment I get out of riding around town in the 67 and on SHORT trips (maybe 2 hours) in nice weather (hopefully will have AC next year).

I love both my trucks, even my newer "plastic" pos which has been flawless for 94K

I don't know about being different, but I do know what I like. I have a 67 swb stepside and it is like true therapy for me. When I first purchased her, I just wanted a beautiful, old, simple chevy truck to drive. But with a bit of luck I found this forum and that was when I realized how much fun and how basic these trucks really are. She is my daily driver and we average over 122 miles, five days a week since 2000. I thought she was in good shape when I bought her but I didn't know what to look for until I found this site. Now she has disk brakes, power steering, almost rust free and I wouldn't drive anything else (except my bike) (did I mention I didn't know how to do any of this until after I found this site?). Even my wife is trying to find one for her and my son. Therapy Man, therapy...

I just dropped a wad of cash so I could be driving a classic again, although most
of them I have owned are not show rigs, I get more satisfaction from all kinds of
those "LOOKS" going down the road, and a few of those "YOUR #1" gestures too

Yes I have always loved the older trucks and cars. Cars I was always a Mopar man but trucks to me nothing never looked as good as a Chevy. I have done full restores on cars and trucks for people and bought them and done them to sell. I have one now waiting to be done and I think I will keep this one after I finish it. I have pictures of all the ones I have done in a big frame in the shop office photos of my babies is what my Wife calls them so I think I might keep this kid and raffle it off between my Grandkids.

I bought my Blazer because of fond memories I had of my dad's 72 stepside and I want my kids (when I have them) to have similar memories.

A bonus that I didn't consider was all the looks that Blazer gets... but I'm cool with that!

I would venture to say my girlfriend is a bit jellous of this site and my pickup. I spend more time on here and more money on my pickup than I do on her

, but she is also 400 miles away from me. I love my pickup no matter what anyone says.

There’s a few reasons why I built a 67. I had a 69 panel when I was 16, 67’s are exempt from most state and federal bs regulations, real steel instead of plastic, they look great and are fun to drive, NO electronics that take a $50.000 analyzer and a $100 an hour tech to trouble shoot a problem.. A ½-9/16 combo, screwdriver, and pliers will fix almost anything. And that they get attention. The other day I watched a guy leaving the convenience store in front of me. He was staring at my truck so hard that when he opened the door to his mini van he hit himself in the face with his door frame……

I am with you! I drive 67-72s for several reasons. 1. THe orange and whirte has been in my family since 1973. 2. They are just really cool looking trucks.
3. They are easy to work and real easy about getting parts for (especiaslly now). 4. For the most part are government exempt from all the emission BS, you can run any thing from the little 250 I6 to blown 572 big block to a cummins diesel and there is nothing they can do about it. 5. I know that unless she gets wrecked they will last for a real long time to forever. Just my opinion older is better.

I love driving my 'burb. It may not have the comfort and convenience of newer vehicles, but how often do new vehicles get the "thumbs up"?
With the 'burb it's a daily occurence. I think I need another 67-72 to keep it company.

Yep back in the ole days you could go to Sears & Roebucks and buy you a set of tools for $10, $30 you was a master mechanic and could rebuild a small block with about six wrenches and a hammer. Now it takes that just to get the hood off and don't forget they have to be metric.
BTW that is a sharp lookin truck, love the stripes. That is one of my plans I have floating arounding in my head for my '69. I did one for a guy before with hugger stripes and he found some guy to do bucket seats he found and the door panels with the same type and pattern as a Camaro turned out cool.

I agree with all of you. I like "stylin'" down the boulevard, and at the end of the day I can open the hood and actually see an engine and recognize the parts that live under there. I wouldn't want to take a fast, long, four-lane trip in my dually, but hook up a vintage Airstream and give me country two-lanes, and I'm like that rabbit, I just want to "keep on going"
