I cannot keep water out of my airlines----exit from comp goes up 5 feet then down to a water trap and lower drain valve. anyone care to share pics of their GOOD water traps? . I have seen 3-4 lines up and down with individual drains at bottom of each. Help?

Re: Water traps
Your water trap needs to much farther from the compressor to be effective. The air coming out of the compressor is very hot and contains water vapor and until the air cools enough for the vapor to turn to a liquid, which will be captured by your water trap.
Move the water trap to the end of the line and you will see results.

Re: Water traps
I also use a norgen filter and have 4 lines 5 ft up and down with traps at each down pipe.

I made a “snake” behind the compressor all back pitched to drain the water to the tank to give me an xtra 30’ of line before my first drop. Your drops need to come out on top so the water isn’t as able to get towards the separator like this:

Re: Water traps
Mine drains to the compressor tank and I drain it regularly, not feasible to drain away with the “snake”

Re: Water traps
You've got to cool the air down enough to condense the water vapor into a liquid before it can be caught in a water trap. I used a cheap dorm fridge with a copper coil in a 5 gallon bucket to cool the air down, then a normal trap on the outlet. No moisture problems since.
Extra length in the lines and placing the trap farther away from the tank might work ok in the winter, but when it's 90+ in the shop and the lines get heat soaked you're not dropping enough temperature to cool the air by extra line alone. A refrigerated system is necessary in the summer.

Re: Water traps
I use this to cool the air as it comes out of the tank, it then goes thru a separator then a filter and finally a desiccant dryer. This is just when I do things outside that its rigged like this with air lines.

Re: Water traps
I'm looking to get one for my garage air. But I need a new compressor as my old one has sprung an air leak in the tank. It's a rot hole in the base so it's out of commission don't dare use it like that.
