Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Good Day, Does anyone have any interest in Step-Vans? I have a fondness for them myself and would enjoy interacting with anyone who may share my interest. I have five half tons and one three quarter ton as well as a number of the larger sized ones. I currently drive a 1990 2wd Jimmy as a daily driver but I plan to sell it and outfit one of my Step-Vans for daily use, The one that I will be driving has an aluminum body with a 250 inline six and a 350 transmission, I plan to leave the stock drivetrain in place. Given the 102 inch wheelbase it should be a fun little truck. I would value any thoughts on the subject. Best Regards, Eddie Wood

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Good Morning, I will post some photos as soon as possible. I too like all sorts of vehicles. I really like odd vehicles such as old Cab-Overs and delivery trucks. I have a rather unique truck that I would like to someday build, It is an old National Linen Service truck (1968) with an all aluminum body that looks like an old armored car that has been chopped because the entire body is only about three and a half feet high, The windsheild is only about 12 inches high (stock) and the roof which was designed to carry a load has (aluminum) studs that are about a foot apart. It would be a nice veiwing platform for racing or an elevated patio. The only area that is not aluminum is the cowl which in this case is a 1968 Ford F500, but given the fact that I lean more toward GM I would replace the cowl with one from an older C60 School Bus which would allow the use of a front clip from a 67/72 C10. All that would be needed to complete the transformation would be a C30 chassis. Best Regards, Eddie Wood

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Good Day All...Here are some photographs of a few of my trucks. For those of you who are wholly interested in GM products, please excuse my posting photographs of a Ford. My plans for the laundry truck involve a late sixtys C60 School Bus Cowl, a 67/72 C10 front clip and a C30 chassis. I plan to clean up the white P10 and repair a small area on the drivers side quarter panel then I will get a nice set of rims and use it as my daily driver. The P30 Step-van will be converted into an extended cab pickup. The photographs are less than perfect but I have several of my trucks packed bumper to bumper and that makes it rather difficult to get clear photographs. Best Regards. Eddie Wood

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Good Morning BGRAFX...Thank you for refering me to HAMB, That website is indeed a goldmine. I wish that you were closer to me as I have a solid 1968 P10 that you might find interesting. Some time ago TRUCKIN' magazine did a feature on an identical van as my 68....The van was named Breadsled. I am going to build my aluminum P10 which is a 1973 model. and I have no plans on building the 68. Best Regards, Eddie Wood

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

I remember the bread sled. Made by CleanCutCreation in St.Loius, MO That thing is sweet! Its started out white with maroon graphics then they customized it to the silver with flames that made it in to the magazine. They also made the SnowSled icecream truck and used it to sell goodies at car shows.
There are a handful of cool stepvan ice cream trucks running around.

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Good Day Chisnk, That is a 1968 National Linen Service Truck. Every inch of it is aluminum except for the cowl. I was going to make an odd rod out of it but I have changed my mind as I am not blessed with time. One could put most any make or model of front clip on it or frame under it or just drive it as is. Best Regards, Eddie Wood

Re: Regarding Small Step-Vans Custom or Stock

Hey guys. We have some major stepvan love here at RPM Transmissions. This is one of our shop trucks. Its a short/short P10, 250 I6 with an RPM fully micropolished 3 speed manual trans. Its got Air Ride Technologies with E3 controller, tubular a-arms upper and lower and trailing arms sitting on Coy 18x7 and 18x11 rims. And a big ass train horn!
