Best way to strip 67-72 hood?
We all know that the hoods on 67-72 trucks don't have much structural integrity to them. I like having things sandblasted as it does a great job and leaves a good substrate for epoxy, but I don't think it's the best option for the hood and I talked to one sandblaster in town that won't touch it. The outside isn't too difficult to strip with chemicals or a sander, but what should I do with the inside with all of the crevices I can't get into? Should I strip everything that I can and take it to the blaster to get all the hard to reach spots?

Even a bit of sand blast over spray through the holes or along edges will destroy the hood. Ask me how I know. Learned that about 35 years ago and bought a new hood for that project. Soda, dry ice or plastic bead are all safe media to blast with. Chemical stripper can get into crevasses and become a problem. Mechanical stripping is possible but tedious. I'm doing that on a hood now.

Re: Best way to strip 67-72 hood?
The underside is original paint. It's mostly flat inside, but there is structure around the edges and a couple bars from front to back. This is the best picture I have of it and it's upside down. I doubt there's any paint between the skin and the structure, but I probably shouldn't worry about. I live in a desert so rust isn't a big issue here.
