Re: original (not modified) truck pics

Here's a couple of mine from a show I took it to in Oct. I was the only truck there. It's a 69 CST 350 AT/AC/PB/PS with HD suspension all original. I bought it from the original family.

not sure about the 16" steelies, but that's how it came off a ranch in Central Texas. I did add the later yr side markers. Thinking of changing back to the correct ones.

question about that: were painted gas caps stock? Mine had one when I got it, but figured it might be something a dealer did.

My 71 GMC, bought new at Lynch Motor Cars (Cadillac Pontiac GMC) in LaGrande Oregon. By Globe Furniture. Globe is located across the street from the dealership, which is still there except it is now a Aaron's rental store. It's all stock and will stay that way !

VERY nice looking truck you have there!

My 'original' 71 SWB has the same 16" wheels and caps. The wheels don't show up on the SPID so I'm guessing they were dealer installed because the truck was originally a Forest service vehicle. FWIW, I really like the look of the 16" wheels on these early 70's C10's.

In looking through the original factory option list I don't believe the 16" wheels were available from the factory......... that's why I suspect they were dealer installed.

cheers

Tires may or may not appear on SPIDS it unfortunately is not the final say. Seen many trucks that had optional tires verified through GVW ratings or build sheets that did not appear on the SPID.
However 16" tires were available on C10s in the tube tire style.
For 71 they were 6.5-16 (C) car style ot truck style in street or off road treads.
The tube type tires were often seen on forest service trucks, to allow in field tire repairs, well into the late 70s as I recall.

Can tubeless tires be mounted on these original tube rims?

My C10 with 16" factory style wheels has tubeless tires mounted.

Hard to say without knowing exactly what you have.
However to help you here is the service replacement wheels offered for the 72 down 1/2 tons from the 79, last edition, parts manual.
In most cases the wheels are approved for both tube and tubless. So match up your stamped codes and numbers then decide for yourself.

Re: original (not modified) truck pics

I like a stock truck if it is interesting, some are boring but some are just a thing of beauty, all depends. it is nice for someone to spend all the time and dedication to keep it as factory though, not a lot around anymore.
