Re: 1963 C10 Taildragger

Here are some more photos of my truck a little later after i got it. i had to redo the u bolts in the first pic. i put the hubcaps on to see how they look on it.i think after 3 or 4months of having it, i finished the flatblack paint job.i dont know if im going tp keep the flat black though. If anyone that has had one of the 60 -66 trucks know that these trucks have problems with the gas gauge. well, i took out the gas tank and found that the fuel sending unit was rotted and had to replace it. while i had the tank out i wire brushed, behind the tank and painted.

Re: 1963 C10 Taildragger

when i first got my 63 the 283 small block had a quadajet rochester carb on it and that thing run like sh@t , pardon my french. i took 5 min to warm up, and not cut outand it was straight piped with chrome tips, real redneck i know. so, had to replace the carb, went down to the a local junk yard and got a 650cfm holley carb for $50 , i put it on after i cleaned it with carb cleaner and the 283 now runs great and its so cold blooded. its funny when i got it the previous owner told that he won two street races with a new charger and a new mustang in my old heap, with a granny gear 4 speed. modern muscle 0 , c10 2. and to top it all off, he was doing all of this while the truck was uninsured and not licensed. crazy but true

Re: 1963 C10 Taildragger

Today, i got the rear wheel tubs off, and the rear coils out. i wanted to see how low it would go without bumpstops hitting the frame. looked nice, the rear bumper was 7 ins off the ground. after school this week i might try to put in the automatic or cut the front coils.

Re: 1963 C10 Taildragger

i forgot to tell how i got the truck. about 3 years ago, my dad picked up a 65 and 66 mustang and a 63 chylser from this guy that was had them for years and was needing to move, so we pick all of them up for like $900. my sister got the 65 from my dad so we can restore it some day, sold the 66 to some guy in sacromento. we then traded the 63 chysler newport convertible to a guy i had a roached 1938 plymouth. my dad thought it was a good trade,(i think he got the short end of the stick). we had the 38 for sale on craigslist for a long time, and couldnt sell it. then, tryed to start trying it. and of course no one wanted it then. then, we saw my truck for sale for $1200 up in twain harte and he wanted to trade for a rat rod project, so we called him up and he wanted to trade. it was amazing that he even wanted it let alone trade with a runing driving truck. about a few weeks after talking with the guy i got the c10. and of course i payed my dad for the truck. and that is how i got it.

Re: 1963 C10 Taildragger

That Crysler you had there reminds me of my first classic.
I had a 1964 Crysler 300 with the 454 and Holly carb, push button automatic.
At 80 miles an hour you could literally watch the fuel guage needle drop.

That car also taught me to hate MOPARs, will never own one again.
I wont even let people I care about buy them... LOL

I hope you keep us posted on your progress! We have a few Teenagers on the board doing builds like yours.

I dig your ammo can!
You dont see the .22 calibur ones very often!!

You will be really happy when you get to start shooting paint!
Well .... mostly happy ....... until you get a run, or dirt, or a fly in it.

my dad inherited a bunch of stuff when my granddad pasted away. my granddad used to go to swap meets and sell tools, old steel toys, and old ammo cans. he bought em by the palet full. i hate when you did a great job on the paint and a big messes it up.
