3100 AD max tire size in rear?

What size/width 19" wheel/tire combo can I get in the rear fenders of a 47-54 3100 without mini tubbing? Thanks

Re: 3100 AD max tire size in rear?

I'm running 15x8 inch wheels in the back and the tires are 255/70r15 and I don't think you could go any wider than that without tubs.

Re: 3100 AD max tire size in rear?

I'm running a 235/55/17 tire on a 17"X8" rim with a 3-1/2" BS. The rear axle is a 74 nova and is 60" from mounting surface to mounting surface. The bed on these pickups is 50" wide, you have approx. 12" from bed to inside lip of rear fender, for a total of 74". The section width on my tire is 9.5" and I have no rubbing problems. When I was checking on mine the widest section width I could go was 10.4" with only 1/2" clearance to hitting the bed. That tire was a 255/50/17....Jim

Re: 3100 AD max tire size in rear?

Back in the day I ran 31-11.00x15s on 15x8" rims on the back of my first '54. I loaded the bed down with firewood each winter and never rubbed the inside or the outside.

I'm running 275/40ZR20 on the rear of my 50 3100. I don't think you could fit any more rubber without tubbing it.

Re: 3100 AD max tire size in rear?

Looks like the thread died but I'm looking at the same question Stockish had? Any dimensions available for the rear end? How about up front, what's the setup and does everything fit?

Re: 3100 AD max tire size in rear?

I've got 255 70 15's on 8 inch rims on mine and would be hard pressed to stick a 1x4 between the tire and bed or fender as clearance is very slim. That's with a mid 70's Nova rear axle.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

The rear axle was in the truck when I bought it but I've been told it's probably out of a Chevelle or something similar. I'm running the 275/40ZR20 tires on Ridler 695 20"x8.5 wheels. I hope that helps.
