Your project ADD is almost as bad as mine!

At least I'm crossing stuff off the list. Finished a bathroom renovation yesterday.

Re: Project "Shifted"

I got all of the holes drilled for the SS strips that hold the floor down. Need to start working on the shortening and widening the wheel tubs. Once that's done, I will blow the bed back a part, finish some welding, and then will be ready for paint, I threw the topper on the square body. I think it might look better on there than it did on the 68......

Thanks. I love your suburban! I looked for one for a long time before I ended up going with my 69.

Ok, I'm probably over thinking this, but should I widen my wheel tubs before I shorten them, or shorten them before I widen them???????

Thanks Hart_Rod. Funny thing is I now have the wants for a 67 to 72 Burb.

Wheel tubs, my approach would be to get them to fit height wise and length wise front to back first, then I would widen them. I think to get there you are cutting them down and removing metal. If I widened them first, I would be cutting out some of what I did for widening to get the length and height right. I think....kinda tired tonight. Apologies if my thinking is wrong.

Thanks! I was kinda leaning toward doing that way. I have another set of new ones that should be here by Friday, so that will be my weekend project, .

Thanks guys! I'm just a 1 to 1.5 man show here (thanks Ernie,), so progress isn't super fast. My weekend project was shortening the rear wheel tubs so I can get the bed wrapped up and sent off to my paint guy. I got one tub shortened. It took most of Saturday as I was working on some other projects at the same time. It was a lot of work for just a small change, . I'll have left to do is finish up the welding/grinding. I'll try to get the other side knocked out this week. I'm also thinking about getting a fiberglass mold taken off of these. I wonder if there would be a demand for them? There's a local company that does fiberglass work and I'm going to talk to them after I get them done. Pics as always.....

How many tubs will you have used once finished with this project?

Re: Project "Shifted"

Are you still going to widen them? By the way, that plate looks all wrong on the squarebody.

I'm going to widen them 1.5" Steve. It isn't necessary, but I want to have room if I decide to put a 12" wheel on it later. I think the "lid" looks perfect on the brick.....

Lid, Yes. Plate, No. It's not a 6T8 or a ZZZ.
